The majority of subscribers don't watch Rockets games and they won't be happy paying more to get them without choice. I know a lot of people are expressing optimism now, but unless Crane and CSN are willing to come on their price point I don't see the carriers budging. The past year has shown them they can survive just fine in our market without the sports teams. Even with the excitement of Dwight, I don't see a bunch of subscribers leaving Uverse or DTV to get Comcast. Those two carriers just have perks that people won't give up for the Rockets.
CSN has no interest in that. They want a fee of 3.40 for every subscriber, not just $5 for the 20-75k that might pay the fee.
Now with Dwight coming to Houston, anyways we can get this stickied again? I really hope they will get a deal done.
I won't switch from UVerse, but I might add a single comcrap box. What is the cheapest setup one can get from comcrap that would give me one box, HD, and the Rockets?
They don't even offer Comcast where I live. I am completely unable to watch any games.. Feels like it should be illegal.
Ultimateian: The packages black out the rockets games if you live in the houston are, therefore there is no way to watch Rockets basketball without switching to comcast
How about online? Hook your laptop up to your television. I know you can watch online if you have league pass.
quick rant. I converted to Comcast. Love the channel. Love seeing my astros (not rockets season of course) Enjoy the internet speed Picture quality is better than Uverse Hate the customer service and how often something is messed up. I will run - not walk - back to uverse the moment they get the channel. don't regret the switch as I have now what I did not before - but at a buy out of only $7.50/month and customer service that reminds me why I avoided them throughout the rockets season and dealt with streams - I can't wait for my uverse back.
It will still be blacked out. You have to get league pass, then rent a 'proxy' in another city that you connect to and watch the games.
I think that is exactly what will happen. The providers have absolutely no motivation to put the pathetic Astros on at this point. Where it gets very interesting is when the Rockets season rolls around this fall. I hope the providers will come to their senses and pick up CSN Houston because of the buzz now surrounding the Rockets. If not, I will definitely drop DirecTV and switch to Comcast ( who sucks as a provider IMO ) for game 1 of the Rockets season. I would have done this last year, but I didn't believe it would really drag on for the entire season.
I hear that so frequently...and given the pain in the ass it is to deal with the switch of my whole house...it makes me increasingly less likely to switch away from Uverse, which I really like. I'll have to make do with more games on TNT and lots of trips to Buffalo Wild Wings.
We've had one major issue since we've had Comcast (going on our 6th year almost) and it was a breeze to resolve. Our internet connection was very spotty and they diagnosed an issue over chat and could've had someone out to the house to replace the modem the very next day. I've add all except Uverse and I like Comcast the best. It's not the best at everything, but to me, the entire package was better than the other two. Just to put a feather in the Comcast cap.
Will tomorrow night's NBA TV primetime replay of the Rox summer league game be blacked out in Houston?
