I wonder why Garcia will sign with us for vet minimum while Delfino can get a 6.5m contract from the Bucks...!!
Garcia knows with the addition of Dwight to go with Harden he will get a ton of shots and free looks. This is an ideal situation for him and we have his bird rights from next season so he'll get paid next season.
I don't know if people really appreciate how good Garcia really is. He had two years in Sacramento where he fell off, but other than that he has been a REALLY good shooter. Talking 44%+ from the field and 39%+ from 3. It looks like he got revitalized playing with the Rockets. If he gets back to the player he was for his entire career outside of the last two seasons and his rookie year, he is a legit STARTING caliber player. From 2006 to 2010 (five NBA seasons) he was a 38% 3 point shooter and a 45% shooter from the field. Nights where we can run out Lin/Harden/Garcia/Parsons/Dwight in a small ball lineup where we don't have to worry about Parsons getting abused will be awesome.
I agree. All I think about is how hyped he was during the Thunder series. He was making some big shots and getting fired up. Love that about him. Also, let's not forget about his defense. He can play solid D when needed.
Solid pickup for really cheap contract. Cisco is the man. Great defender and can knock down open looks. Excellent shooter. Love this pickup, I was sad when I read that they werent picking up his option, but I can totally understand that he is not really worth $6 mill but 1.6 sounds a hell of lot better.
What are realistic stats from him this coming year? Will he average 10 points? After last years playoffs he may be my favorite Rocket
http://www.82games.com/1213/12HOU9.HTM Garcia is in all of the top 5 man unit combinations minus one. The man only played 8% of the minutes with this team, yet is in all but one of the top combos. No wonder we signed him again. This 1.3 million is a bargain compared to the production.
Seriously. He rivals Chandler right now for value (performance vs. contract.) Between those two players we will be getting tremendous production out of the wing/forward spots for less than $3 million.
So excited!! Garcia did amazing during the playoff, not only with his plays on the court, but he was like a pillar for the young players. Woohoo!!
Of course he does. That's why he has the player option for next year. He can exercise his option and we can actually go over the luxury tax (even further if we already surpass it) to offer him what he is truly valued at. Just shows you how much he was willing to sacrifice to return to the Rockets.
Ha, I wouldn't say that until you see his performance this year. I believe he made about 6 million last year. And his stats definitely don't yell 6 million, but I'd have to agree that this new contract does sound like a good deal for us. Too bad about Delfino. I would like to have seen him here one more year. He could be plugged in at the 2,3 or 4 and stretched defenses big time.
