Because they're currently denying they have any and are trying to talk their way out of this since the coalition doesn't have the full backing of the U.N. The minute they use WMD, the coalition gets the fully backing of the U.N. and the rest of the countries, and Iraq essentially signs their death certificate.

Interesting questions. The answer to the first question probably would relate to how the deaths occurred, like someone else mentioned in the thread. If we lost several large scale battles, Bush would probably take alot more heat. Timeframe wise, I think he has until Democratic convention time to resolve this thing. I don't see any Democrats campaigning against the war in the primaries(except Sharpton:D ), but if the war continued until next year I could see the Dem nominee using the war against Bush.

Left to his devices, pResident Bush will allow as many soldiers to die as it takes to win the war unless severe "political" considerations and the threat of impeachment get in his way. After all, this is man who considers his mission to go to war a matter of divinity (while still capable of the callousness necessary to mock a woman condemned to death.) Bush's well documented hard headedness, lack of intellectual flexibility and petty vindictiveness does not give much hope that the war could be ended anytime soon short of victory. In fact, at this stage, the US has no choice but to engage in a tragic end-game as a pre-mature pull-out would be disasterous for the both US, politically and economically as well the Iraqi people who would be abandoned for the second time by a second Bush after being urged to rise up against Saddam.

If U.S. casualties start piling up then the Generals will demand that we quit playing nice.

    Link please.

And if there are 10,000 casualties, then I would oppose this war (unless they are caused by chemical weapons, then we would have no choice, and France would join us.)

I voted win at all costs, but win at all costswould never reach 10,000 deaths. If it were to look like there was potential to reach 10,000, I would say we should pull out and start dropping the real **** and end it in an instant.
