Lin's apg would definitely increase. But I doubt if his ppg would be much higher, because DH may average 20 ppg. But Lin will be a better player for sure.
Yeah, his stats for his usage rate aren't really that bad at all. They're pretty good actually. I just don't think he did bad enough to warrant giving up on him after one season coming off injuries. Just doesn't sit right with me, and I would like to see how he does with a big man that can catch and finish.
I don't think he had a bad season. Started slow but given the benefit of the doubt on coming back from an injury it's hard to expect much more. I'm not one of the haters believe me. For the amount of time he had the ball I think other than turning it over a tad much he did what any reasonable person could expect. What I do believe is that he WILL continue to be used in a low usage manner and feel that if the opportunity arises where we can move him for an upgrade somewhere all the while filling his spot with a cheaper alternative we should jump all over it.
Lin has played about 110 meaningful games as a player and you already established him as a "average player"? Don't you guys realize it takes time for a PG to get established in the league. Name 5 HOF PGs and look at their first few seasons. I'm not comparing him to HOF PGs but it takes some time even for the all time greats. Plus we saw his ceiling, and it would be stupid to doubt that he can reach something that he already reached.
We struck gold with Bev and he's on an extremely good contract ala CP25. He would start over someone like Calderon but not Lin. One worry is his rate of fouls because he goes full speed. But if he doesn't go full speed then that takes away his major strength... His aggressiveness on man to man D. He's best bringing spark off the bench and a perfect compliment to Lin until he shows he can control his fouls (same rate as G.Smith)
It's funny how people with very little basketball knowledge always complain that Jeremy has a "ridiculous contract". There were only 4 starting pgs not in their rookie contract who made less than 8 million a year last season. 1) Goran Dragic- He made 7.5 million a year (personally think he is worth 8mil+ a year) 2) Kyle Lowry- In a contract that he signed while he was coming off the bench. 3) Mario Chalmers- Not really a point guard. 4) Raymond Felton- Signed his contract after the year he showed up 30 pounds overweight. 8 million is around the low end that a starting point guard not in their rookie contract will make. Beno Udrih makes around 6.5 million a year and he is a bench player. The reality is that Lin has definetely earned his contract, if you compare him to other starting pgs' production versus their salary. But, too many people on Clutch don't have a clue as to whats going on with the rest of the nba.
I plead guilty. Three strikes and Lin's out. But if he comes back better than ever (more efficient, better jumper, fewer TOs, more self-confidence) and is steady in the playoffs, we may have a long-term keeper.
Linsanity numbers were 25 and 8. If you were seriously expecting him to get near that production then he should be getting near max money. Obviously he isn't THAT good and like you said is an average starting PG. But 8 mil/yr isn't that much either when you compare with the rest of the league. It's shocking that he gets so much hate because he couldn't sustain Linsanity numbers, especially when he's not even playing the same role (not saying that's a bad thing). It's actually funny because before last season there was a thread to predict his numbers and most people were excited about his acquisition and saying he'd be at around 14 and 6. And that was before Harden. He basically gave you that production this season while playing with Harden and he's getting so much crap.
You should have made your moniker, JLin#1FAN. It would make your fanatic over knowledgable approach to every Jeremy Lin thread more understandable. You should read the way tin man posts. His fanaticism is cheeky and fun. Yours is more cruel and tragic. Speaking of, farva might be a suitable name as well.
Believe me, Morey knows the Lin is a PnR PG and he knows that with D12 he will succeed. Morey knows his stuff, he would only trade for a better PnR PG but I don't there really is one available. Lin will do well this season. 15 ppg 8 apg?
i remember seeing that special before game 6 that john stockton could not shoot worth a crap from three point range. It took him years before he became the obnoxious pasty 3 point shooter. another pg: <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/8xGy289NdIc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> It seems more so now, in the internet era, we want everything right now or else! Growing as team is overlooked. Of course if the spurs offered you frenchie, you'd be an idiot to pass on it. but some of the suggestions are, as a senator used to say, shhhhhhheeeet.
Boooooom! I read that thread when someone bumped it at the end of the season. The predictions from a lot of the haters were interesting.
Keep the turnovers down, raise his percentages a bit, and he'll be just fine. He won't have to do a whole lot on this team.
Don't get me wrong, I love Beverley. He is a high energy guy! Did you watch him play in the Orlando summer league today? He committed 7 PF! That is why he is only getting 788K! Here is link for the score box: http://www.nba.com/games/20130707/HOUPHI/gameinfo.html?ls=slt
