I expect Lin to have his best complete season, but he will never live up to his Linsanity time in New York. Unfortunately his entire career is going to be viewed through Linsanity lenses for a lot of people and he will never live up to it. He is like a singer who has a mega hit for their first single then their career fizzles because the first thing they do is so good that they never live up to it again even though what they are doing after their hit is really good, just never as good as the first.
If he doesn't improve his 3 point shooting, defense, and ability to finish in the paint (he needs a reliable floater like charmers) then it's on hm. Because the lane will be wide open with Howard being added
honestly he always likes to stir up stuff , I don't ever believe him , I still don't know why he labels himself as "The Rocket Guy" because he usually talks negatively towards the Rockets
This is a very fair and realistic point. would rep if i could. The thing is we brought him over here thinking we would get somewhat Linsanity numbers, thats why we're stuck with his ridiculous contract for an average point guard. Granted he's only had one season, saying it will be his best season is like flipping a quarter.
His contract isn't ridiculous. Look at what other free agent point guards are getting... he's overpaid if you're looking at production, but he brings in a lot of money for whatever team he's on and he still has room to improve. Joe Johnson and Rudy Gay's contracts are examples of ridiculous contracts.
Linsanity was the "perfect storm," which means they don't happen very often. However, I think Lin will improve over last season's performance for two reasons. 1. He is healthier, better conditioned, and more ready than last year, or will be before training camp. Remember, he started last season recovering from an injury/surgery. 2. DH will make every thing easier for every body including Lin. When the other team is focused on keeping the best center in the game from abusing them, it opens a host of opportunities for others. Lin will prosper. Drive and dish can become lethal.
Lin is young and is still improving, I think it's his best season (probably not better than linsanity though). I hope he stays, next year will be real fun
can you do a run down with point guards that score 1000pts and dish out assists? And they can't be top 5 lottery picks in their rookie contracts. if you can chew gum and make a lay up, your average salary is 5 million a year. you people forget what league you're watching sometimes.
yeah exactly I don't get why a lot of people are not more open to the possibility that he can become a better player especially paired with a guy like Dwight , honestly he deserves to start over Patrick imo , obviously he was injured during the playoffs so thats unfortunate for him but I'm not taking anything away for Patrick either , hes definitely a solid backup , he hustles and we need his spark off the bench
Then why does a fairly comparable player such as Beverly, which most have already said they wouldn't mind starting for the rockets, who makes only 788k not making an average salary of 5 million, when he plays good defense, makes good passes and can definitely chew gum and make a lay up. Truth of the matter like said before, he's highly overpaid for the production he puts out. If he was getting paid a Mil or something comparable to what BEV gets paid, i don't think anyone would ever complain about Lins play.
If it's not his best season (which even then is probably middle of the pack for a starting PG) he's certainly gone.
This. You must be one of the most reasonable veterans on here. I thought Lin was a Rocket and this was a Rockets site. Maybe not? I'm picturing a lot of members on here carrying pitchforks in the middle of the night chasing after Lin.
Way to stretch facts into hate molds. Mo and Jason Williams were not only used for spot up shooting at all. Kobe and MJ weren't playing PG, ever heard of the triangle offense?
I hope those people with Linsanity lenses take them off. And never say never, Jeremy has proven people wrong time and time again.
I have faith in him that this season he will have over all great season.. he will get 18ppg and 8 to 9 apg all thanks to Dwight ...
Lin isn't just used for spot up shooting either. The point he was making is that these great wings had very, very high usage rates while the point guards they played with had low usage rates. It's just how it works. If you really believe all Lin does is hand the ball off and sit in the corner you are crazy. He gets his share of play making opportunities, he just isn't going to get a lot playing with a guy like harden.
Many people over estimated the outside shot, under estimated the importance of dribble penetration, when you play with a post threat. Parson will have a better year, because he cuts/slashes well without the ball, Lin will have a better year because he can dribble penetration & dish the ball in traffic. If he can improve his outside shooting, that's great. Without it, he is still going to be much better for the Rockets next season. All those fumbles by Asik, and TOs from passes to Asik will be the easy points for Howard, and assists for Lin.
