I've seen a lot of people asking about Canaan and when he'll be coming back. I haven't seen an answer on here yet so I thought I'd let everyone know that Canaan has told local media that the coaches are holding him out of the entire summer league to let his ankle heal 100%.
UPDATE: Quote and adding news story... Damn! I wanted to see the Toy Cannon shoot like a mother fo. Oh well, at least we get to see Terrence Jones dominate.
Does anyone know if Canaan can play without an official contract signed? I believe we did this last time with our second round picks by simply signing some insurance plan in the case they got injured during Summer League am I right? If that's the case then I guess there's no point holding him back while we work out Dwight's contract terms and fit everything under the cap. He must really be injured then.
I am not sure that is correct. If he is going to be out the entire summer league then why waste a summer league spot on him? He is on the roster and therefore I would assume the Rockets plan for him to play at some point.
Can you shed some light on how you know this? Usually if the local media is told something like that, they report it. You may be right, but he's listed as day to day.
This is from 4 hours ago

Beverley lobbied hard to get to play summer league. Like Parsons last yr, might be held to 1 gm. Canaan day-to-day (ankle). Next game Tue.
— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) July 7, 2013
Seems like if Canaan told the media he was out the entire summer league that Feigen would of wrote something different.
Per Jeff Bidwell @AKAJeffBidwell sports reporter for WPSD who spent a lot of time with Isaiah during his 4 years at Murray State and has done many features on him. "Isaiah Canaan tells me Houston plans to hold him out for the entirety of the Orlando Summer League since his injured ankle still isn't 100%." 12:40pm - 7 Jul 13 I'm on mobile so couldn't paste tweet. I'm 100% confident Canaan told him this himself because he has very close connections to Canaan and can just call him up and ask him anytime he wants. Canaan wouldn't mislead him either. I guess it's possible that the Rockets could be misleading Canaan on what they plan to do.
This Dustin guy is from Murray state and has provided good insight on Canaan. He is sayiing he saw it on local news. I am presuming he means local news in Murray. Makes sense that they would report it and Canaan would tell them. I doubt Dustin is lying.
So, Ice needs ice. Cool anyway since SL is way overrated. I sure hope this is not a chronic issue for Ice.
