Why is ESPN so against talent being spread out amongst the NBA? They could hire more journalists (actual good ones) and deliver articles and videos through their website. But that costs time and money and they probably think we don't read in Texas. Yeah, we are allergic to bull****. They don't talk about Houston, Dallas, Indiana, San Antonio, etc. on Sports Center no matter how well they play. That's fine. Continue talking about the Knicks, LeBron, Bulls and the Lakers. But when LeBron and Kobe retire they will learn the same thing the NBA did when Jordan retired. You take a huge hit putting all of your eggs in one basket. And having one player in the east and one player in the west is the same thing. It's fun while it lasts, but it sucks when they are gone.
bravo. Great read with proper documentation. It's only too long; didn't read if the post rambles on. That post isn't a ramble...
You know as much as I dislike Stephen A Smith, this time he was reporting the exact opposite in that Dwight never waivered and wanted Houston all along, but ESPN has kind of ignored that report and hidden it, while keeping the "Indecision '13" as a front page headline. http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=9453775
Ben, you were probably in an airplane when this happened, but the most EGREGIOUS thing Broussard did was after it was reported by Sam Amick at 6pm EST (kudos to Amick for breaking the news) that Howard was going to the Rockets, at around 9pm EST Broussard said Howard was still "waffling." Howard was in a plan back to LA to tell LA he wasn't coming back. But because Howard/Fegan did not "officially" say Houston yet (they wanted to tell LA the news first as courtesy to them) Broussard "PERPETUATED THE WAFFLING" schtick until the end. JUST AWFUL! Fegan was somewhat culpable here, with his handling of it, but still. By 10:30 EST Howard made it "official" via twitter and the Lakers Twitter "concession tweet."
The 'Dwightmare' term bothered me too. Why was he a "Dwightmare"? Because he likes to smile and have fun. That he doesn't have an unyielding, tenacious attitude like Kobe. I mean, I guess it wins championships, but it also means court date in Colorado. Everybody in LA has Stockholm syndrome.
Haha, we all know most Lakers fans are nothing but bandwagonners and Kobe fans. ESPN is gonna lose a lot of money in their LA division this year.
this is just proof that the media can make you believe things, like artic blast to descend upon houston when the weather drops to 50. I fell for it. I went into panic mode when 'multiple sources' announced he was headed to L.A for a change of mind. You're in La right? I've been hearing the national stations for cbs and foxsport, it's a full out assault on howard. Scott ferrall was the only one giving the rockets f.o props. everybody else, just defensive whining.
Well they still got the Clippers. And the baseball teams, whatever they're called. I like how no one in the LA media made a huge deal on CP3 wanting a black coach. Am I the only one who thinks this is racist or anything like that? Dunno... Maybe I'm reading this from a wrong angle.
I remember listening to espn 97.5 after Dwight made his decision, and at one point they brought in some female reporter over the phone. She was there to announce that, "Dwight Howard has changed his mind. He is now 50/50." I clearly remember the radio host's reaction because it was soooo cheesy. "Whoa!", he said. "Hold on everyone! This thing is not over!" The whole thing just felt, dumb... Like some cheesy twist that was attempting to make listeners "stay tuned."
Every comment by the media has been punctuated with "I mean, I don't know. Any thing can happen between now and july 10. It is Dwight after all." followed by a chuckle.
if dwight stayed in LA or went to BK the media would be bowing down. Because he went to houston they wanna stir up controversy and try to put pressure on him to either win or FAIL. SMFH
Great post Yoyo. I feel the same way. ESPN is massively butt hurt they won't have Dwight conveniently nearby for their favorite basketball team. Too Bad So Sad Like i said in another thread I'm waiting on a report from someone with some type of genuine integrity before I believe the BS.
This reminds me so much of the movie "Wag the Dog"! I highly suggest you guys check it out. Basically a news outlet creates news causing people to believe that there is a war going on over seas, when in reality, there was no such thing.
Very well said. It was obvious to me that the media as well as some posters here had agendas on their hands in regards to Dwight and his decision. Every negative tweet posted was "oh here we go! Dwight being Dwight again" but it wasn't, it was the media planting stories where they weren't to drive for more clicks. I'm glad he signed here. It proved the naysayers wrong and also proved that the underdog always has a chance. Like Yo said, haters gonna hate. Let em! We stay winning!
Great, great post. It is unfortunate that ESPN and their "sources" are gonna bring the hate for Howard and in turn the Rockets, but I couldn't agree more about embracing it. It is gonna be some fun years ahead for us and if hate comes with that then let's roll with it
