2013 Orlando Summer League Game 1: Rockets vs. 76ers

Appreciate Bev's aggressiveness, but a couple of his fouls were completely unnecessary/borderline thuggish (that offensive foul where he just whacked the dude for no apparent reason). If he can control himself, he'll play a lot more.

 

If he move Lin, it better be for another PG. Don't feel too comfortable with Bev/Cannan backcourt.

 

Stephen A. is on Sportscenter right now talking about DH.

 

Did announcers say anything about Canaan's status?

 

Only caught half of the third and all of the fourth, but here's what I took away:

1. I still love Beverley's style. Intense as hell.
2. I still like T-Jones a lot. People say he has a lack of motor, but I think he just makes it look effortless.
3. Cooley will be a Pacer or Celtic...or Buck....or Jazz.
4. Anderson looked...bad.

So another thing about Cannan, he cannot be signed until D12 and moves go through. That shouldn't affect his summer league eligibility, right?

Fun game. Jones looked great. Bev showing defensive intensity and good ball security. Now to watch Oladipo.

everyone loves the backup

Beverley showed today that he should start for the Rockets....on the bench. He's an energy player but right now is not starter caliber. NBA starters dominate the summer league and 10/6/4 wont cut it especially when his rookie counterpart put up 26/8/7.

 

I think I remember Anderson having 5 decent games last year and just 2 really good games. He needs to bring it or he may know a cut is coming anyway

 

Are they actually running Oladipo in the WB mould? very interesting to see how that pans out

 

Boom! That's one game down and a game in which Tjones looked great. I really have high hopes for him and I was definitely expecting this type of performance from him considering how consistent he was last summer league and how he dominated the D-league.

I believed before this game that he would dominate in the SL and that's one game down for him.

Also, Greg Smith looked pretty bad. His FT looks worse

Bev plays like the guy everyone hates at the Y.

 

Beverley's shoot still needs some work, but man, he's a stud.

Terrence Jones' stat line looks good, but not overly impressed by his play. Still loose with the ball, still holds on to the ball too long before making a move. Jumper still doesn't look totally solid, either.
Has some potential certainly and I do like his energy level, but his game still needs a lot of work.

James Anderson likewise is still way too loose with the ball. Not a knock-down shooter, nor a particular outstanding defender. Shouldn't be on the roster next year IMO. Plenty of minimum level free agents and non NBA players like Dionte Christmas that are better than him.

Greg Smith is solid, but I'd be disappointed if he's the Rockets backup center next year. At best he should be your 4th best big. Ideally he's big man #5/6.

Honeycutt has some tools, but he's just too skinny to cut it in the NBA.

Ohlbrecht... just not an NBA player to me.

Victor O looks damn good. Really pretty J that caught me off guard and has that toughness about him.
