Jason Thompson should be expendable... I would love to have him here... I think he can be a 17/9 PF for us next to Dwight... But Im guessing he will be in a contract year soon... So we probably couldnt afford to keep him

Exactly... Unless you are getting dirk, Aldrich, or love in a trade. How much of an upgrade would a random pf be over a rotation of Jones and dmo? While also losing the 15-20 minutes that Asik would be playing a game. I don't think that much plus it give your 2 1st round picks more time in the second year to see what you have.

Man I'm excited to see what this team can do.

Asik to Milwaulkee for Ilyasova(+)? Unlikely
Asik to New Orleans for Ryan Anderson(+)(+)? Unlikely
Asik(+) to Minnesota for Love? Unlikely

That's about it for my wants. Unless we are getting that, don't trade him. He will want to work his *** off in the 15-20 minutes he gets a game to prove to other teams his value.

A better thread would be to see what we could get for Lin...

I would love to trade with Milwaukee for Henson & picks. He would be great here battling with Jones and DMo for minutes, and he can be a valuable back-up 5. Pachulia is a back-up and Sanders is a natural 4 who will then share minutes up front with Asik & Ilyasova. So win-win for everybody.

That would be the beauty of bringing his immense talents and size to Houston. He won't be asked to win games or lead, he will be asked to take some of the rebounding pressure on both ends of the floor off Dwight, play solid defense, and spread the floor out to 18 ft. to help keep good spacing and leave lanes open for our guards. Cousins is decent at the PnR game and has solid range on his shot, which is still improving by the way. I think we have plenty of talent and great teammates here to make him comfortable and keep him in line.

I know he is a nutjob, but I think a change of scenery and playing for a team that is not a perennial cellar-dweller would do wonders for his attitude. I would love to get DeMarcus Cousins. He would ball on this team.

But it's also great to keep Asik as long as possible until a star 4 (Aldridge, Love,...) comes in the market. I don't think his value will depreciate being that the team will be succesful and he'll keep having a great role.

Why is it so difficult for people to understand that Milwaukee does not need Asik? They have a young Larry Sanders (the best shotblocker in the league) and now have signed Zaza Pachulia for 3 years.

What needs to happen is a 3-way trade because the market for PFs among teams that need a C is no good (other than New Orleans I guess).

Illyasova would be a fantastic addition, but that would leave a hole at PF and a lack of depth at SF for Milwaukee. What they probably want is young pieces. If we can get them a younger PF and a young SF, then we can probably strike a deal. We have one younger PF to give them in either Jones or D-Mo. So the ideal way to get Illyasova would be to deal Asik for a young SF and possibly a second piece that's valuable to us (either some depth OR future draft considerations).

It is becoming increasingly clear though that we are either staying pat or it has to be a clever 3-way trade. New Orleans seem to want MORE than Asik for Anderson, which is of course ridiculous.

Cavs just used their top pick on a PF. People expect the number 1 overall to start. Thompson is serviceable. Id trade Asik for Thompson and CJ Miles.possible pick with some minor protection.

Asik will get over it, he will sit down with Morey look him in the eyes and apologize for his outbursts. Asik will then proceed to the kitchen and bring Morey a sandwich.

Thompson is not who I would choose to space the floor for the Rockets, plus we want a tier 1 PF for Asik. Thompson is tier 2 or 3. CJ miles is not enough. Maybe Asik for their 2014 pick? That wouldn't help us this year but you can always count on the Cavs to win the lottery.

I wouldn't mind it but I'm not the biggest fan of Ryan Anderson. I'd prefer getting a better defender in Ersan Ilyasova but I can't see a deal that makes both Milwaukee and Houston fans happy.

One name that hasn't been thrown out a lot that I'd like to see at PF is Andrei Kirilenko in a S&T. An awesome defender but without the questionable shot selection of a Josh Smith, and would probably come a bit cheaper.

the PF that we need is someone who is the closest thing to Rashard Lewis when he played with Dwight.

The clear answer to that, someone who is gettable,

    Ryan Anderson.

That's all there is to it, unless you want to wait a full season to try for Kevin Love--who will command max dollars.

    go for Ry'

all these trade ideas have been down right disrespectful to asik.... Morey has never been a guy to get 60cents to the dollar in trades so i certainly don't see us getting starting quality PF's who dont really upgrade our team from WC contenders to Miami who?

be patient guys no one wins championships in november, wait for teams to crack when we have the leverage and the deadline looms and morey wins big once again.... in morey i f***** trust haha

I honestly don't understand why Miami wouldn't go after Omer...he is exactly what they need. Maybe trade Omer and some others for, ideally, Chris Bosh (I know it's far-fetched, but...)

Omer would fit perfectly with Mia and help them immensely vs pacers, rockets, etc. And Bosh, while I hate him, would fit perfectly as our 4.

If we are really intent upon adding yet another PF, why not look closer to home? San Antonio is getting older and wants one more serious run at a championship, the same as the Rockets.

Trading Omer Asik for Tiago Splitter would strengthen both teams. Asik and Tim Duncan would complement each other and so would Splitter and Dwight Howard.
