I am sick and tired of always reading that rockets guards and coaches are the reason for our losses, and that if we got Yao more involved in the offence the Rockets would, all of a sudden, be transcended to arguably one of the best teams in the league. It's one thing if Yao was Olajuwon and was able to create a shot for himself via his agility, quickness, hops, and great moves like the dream shake (and no, Olajuwon's turn-around jumper was not the dream shake...he would actuallly shake before going up with a shot). But the fact is Yao is none of that right now. I love Yao, but he does nothing to create for himself. I've seen on many occassions where he'd get the ball and look to pass first. That pisses me off every time I see it. He needs to look for a shot first and if nothing is there then pass it, or better yet find a way to create a shot like the greats. He should take on double teams and find a way to put the ball in the basket. The bottom line is that Yao does not do this. And also I'm tired of Yao slapping at rebounds instead of just grabbing the damn ball. Anyway, Since Yao isn't getting it done the guards are forced to create something out of nothing, and are doing a damned good job of it. If you ever played organized ball, you would understand this. I mean Francis seems to almost get tripple doubles every night. By all means he is not perfect, but he does a hell off a lot more for the team than Yao does. Let me clear something up, this message is not being posted to bash Yao (I love Yao, but I think he needs more time), but it is to bash all the know it alls out there, who never played a game of organized ball in there life, that are always hating on the guards and the coaches. In short, the guards are doing a hell of a job, and unless Yao begins to emulate the greats like Olajuwon, and can fight his way through double teams to put the ball in the hole, I DON'T WANT TO HERE ANYONE SAYING THAT YAO NEEDS TO BE MORE INVOLVED IN THE OFFENCE, AND THAT THE GUARDS AND COACHES ARE TERRIBLE. Remember when Olajuwon used to be dubbed a selfish player back in the late 80's and early 90's. Well, it was because he did not have that good of a supporting cast around him and he was doing all he could to keep the boat afloat. After he got backup via Smith, Cassell, Maxwell, Horry, Drexler the Rockets became a great team. And till Francis gets that type of supporting cast around him, he is going to be labled selfish because he is doing all he can to keep the boat afloat.

I would say that "Yao need to get involve more on the offense" period.

He is not dream yet but it is the growing process and the offense plan need to improved.

Why do we keep him at all if we will not get him involve on the offense.

On this board, has there been anyone associated with the Rockets this year that has not sucked at some point during the season? I think what really sucks are some of the fans.

I agree that this team has a lot of work to do to become a championship team, but we are young. There is only one player on this team that has played more than five years, the average age of this team is 25, and there are four rookies on the roster.

Last year the Rockets finisehd the season at 28-54. We have already won 37 games this year with 11 left to play.

Umm we do keep him involved in our offence, but he isn't Shaq dominant yet. As of right now Steve IS a more dominant player than Yao. I like the # of touches Yao's been getting lately, enought to give him an oppertunity to go for 25+. But if he's to get more shots, he'll have to earn it. I would say his # of shots right now is pretty good for what he brings to the table. Right now Yao is getting the same # of shots as Francis and that balance seems fine with me until next year.

"I'm going to complain about everyone else complaining...then I'm going to whine about Yao not being as good as Olajuwon...then I don't want anyone to complain about anything! GOT IT!"
Pretty much sums up this sorry thread...

It's called constructive criticism and it's kind of THE POINT of this whole BBS. It's also what makes being a true FAN so much fun. We leave the cheering to the cheerleaders. They're hotter than us anyway!
