A whole 6 games into the season we can see that Collier is much better. Collier: 4.2 ppg 2.4 rpg Godzilla: 0 ppg 1 rpg OK, that's it, we won. One thing: Steve does not seem to have too much confidence in Collier yet. In the pick and roll situation (second half) he never kicked it back out to Collier, despite him being open and Stevie being double teamed. Collier has the spacing/timing down pretty well, though, in that situation. ------------------ EZLN
Oh yeah, he is playing better than Mihm's 3.3ppg 1.3rpg also. See, best center in the draft! Title should read "Pryzbilla" ------------------ EZLN [This message has been edited by rimbaud (edited November 10, 2000).]
Yes, PRISS-Billa seems to be very relaxed and comfortable riding the pine wave! I think it is strange that he cannot seem to get off the bench, even in garbage minutes! ------------------ There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
i, agree rimbaud. one thing i noticed so far about Collier is that he's very smart. What i mean by that is, when the man sets picks, he rolls to the right spot at the right time...and more importantly he cares, he really tries. Collier is genius compared to Cato. i don't know, Collier just seems like the kind of man who would know what hole to punch. ha! ------------------
rimbaud, Stevie doesn't even pass back to Mo in the pick n roll. This has a lot to do with DaDakota's comments. Collier definitely has a sweet jumper and so does Mo. Francis must learn to just pass it immediately on that double and trust his jump shooters. That is the best way to free himself up, anyhow. If Mo and Collier keep hitting or swinging weakside to our slashing shooters Walt and Shandon, Francis won't be doubled as much, and the whole damn Rudy system finally surfaces. Come on Stevie.... Oh...and I can't resist re-posting Rudy's quote from last night...it is so perfect for this thread: Francis, you must make a concerted effort to try Rudy's options. He has a system designed to your skills, but you must run it!!! Stop with the taking-on-traps thing. DaDakota is Right!! That doggie has good eyes!
First off, I don't think Collier is an All-star and Pryz is a bust....yet. However, a couple of other things about Collie last night I liked. Passing. He got an assist on one of Walt's 3's and got it out there again where I think Walt dribbled and passed off. The thing I liked was the passes came right away. He received the ball and got rid of it in an instant. The other thing I really liked was seeing him rip that rebound away from Othella. Cool. Of course, others have mentioned his hands. Taking passes almost directly over his head on the move and finishing. Cato could never do that. ------------------
Moe, My title was dripping with sarcasm. As I said, only six games. This was mostly a jab at those saying Collier was a bust and Pryz was a star after their first preseason games. But i am serious about Collier looking good. That rebpund was fierce! ------------------ EZLN
I dunno...I saw a couple of fancy passes from Francis to Collier in traffic...I was actually surprised he caught and put it in the whole with a pretty smooth move. Old School ------------------ I voted YES!
yeah...francis will definitely give you the "fancy" pass. But, we are talking about the "boring" pass. He doesn't like to do that.
francis gave Jason props in an interview. How does Collier compare to Swift ? Or even Moiso ? Help me out guys. It is still VERY early, but Collier doesn't look like a bust. There were some people who said we would be surprised by Jason when he got drafted, where are they ? Stand up and take credit guys. ------------------ "I know how hard it is to put food on your family." George W. Bush
Hell, I'll take 8pts. and 4rbs. in 20 min of work a night from Collier this year. If well get this kind of production night in and night out from this kid he is by far the steel of the draft. Go Collier!, Go Collier ------------------
Depends on which side of the argument I'm on. This has been commented on before, but the rookie class is off to a slow start as a whole. The guys who should be superstars someday, like Swift and Miles, are still too young to make a huge impact this season. Depth in the draft class, yes, but not alot of ROY candidates so far. ------------------
SamCassell, I'm assuming you didn't watch the game. He should have had about 10-12 points and maybe 1 or 2 fouls. They called 2 offensive fouls on him in the 4th period that were absolutely ludicrous, adding to the TO line. Gr8-1, Go to the thread in the NBA dish forum. As of now, Collier's stats are better than Swift's, Moiso's, Mihm's, and Pryzbilla's. Not that long term he'll be better, just a statement to make to so many of those who called me crazy for saying Collier had a chance to perform and saying that these other guys would be stars. ------------------ REVOTE! I can say one thing for Collier .. he is looking more and more confortable on the floor! specially when compared to the preseason. I really believe the kid is getting in playing shape rather quick and therefore is showing on the floor ! I was very surprised when he took the ball through the midle of the lane and had that sweet J but was called for a Offensive foul.. wish I thought was BS.... he showed some quickness in that move. By the way he did not look small when compared to Shak .. he's a big guy too ! ------------------ Mind is the fore-runner of conditions. Mind is chief; and they are mind-made. Rimmy, I knew you were being sarcastic. My qualifying statement was for the Collier haters that might have thought otherwise. By the way, the haters sure seem a lot more timid these days. ------------------
I wouldn't call myself a Collier-hater but I wasn't that impressed with his #s last night. 8 points, 4 boards, 1 assist in 20 minutes, to go along with 4 turnovers. And he was being guarded by Ike Austin and Country. He did well in the 1st quarter but I didn't see him do much after that. ------------------
Collier will get his fill this weekend. He faces one of the strongest froncourts ever assembled in Portland, then goes back to to Shaq's house for seconds. If he fares well at all on these back-to-backs, the guy is a keeper.
SamCassell, You might be a little more impressed if you compared his stats last night to the #2 pick in the draft. You're not one of those "the glass is half empty" types are you? Here's an FYI for ya'all: http://www.nba.com/score_stat/leaders/ppg_r.html He's also #12 in rebounding. Must not have enough attempts 'cause he's close to the top in rookie FG%. ------------------ GATER [This message has been edited by GATER (edited November 10, 2000).]
