This isn't some franchise altering player, nor is it someone Morey couldn't waive in 5 second and move on with one of his many D-leaguers.

The Rockets still have their mini-mid level to offer Brewer if they so choose. They are probably waiting on any potential trades to fall through in order to sign off on Brewer at that rate.

Several thoughts on this pick up. Delfino mightve been too pricey, bc im certain the Rockets inquired. Secondly, in my opinion, Casspi is insurance for Garcia. However more importantly, Casspi represents a trade mark Morey move based on analytics on how players may or may not perform in a low post system. Also Casspi represents a cheap tradeable asset. If you have noticed, Morey has offered(lowballed) older FA with vet mins and short term deals. This marks what every team in the NBA is starting to do (or will copy it). Have 1 or 2 max level players, have several high end mid level players and fill out the roster with players with salary cap maneuverability. In fact, this is another reason, why i think the Rockets will wait on acquiring their 3rd star. If anything, Morey wants Love or LMA, but he will wait on acquiring a piece like that by trying to increase value on his low to middle level players. Asik and Parsons are examples of such players. The Rockets caught their 2 big fishes. Now they are gonna wait for unsuspecting/panicking owners to offload FA or firesell their players. He is gambling that it will happen with Love(imo), hence why he has such a man crush on him.

Hell no. More than likely all 4 of Greg Smith, Asik, Jones, and D-Mo will be battling all pre-season, and maybe during the season for the starting 4 spot. The coaches and front office would LOVE LOVE LOVE to see one of these 2 youngsters improve enough to win that spot over Smith & Asik since they would be much better complements to Howard/Harden.

No. Omri isn't a big. He's a SF, who could play four in certain situations. Both Dmo and TJ are true PFs who can play center at times.

 

Well, if it makes you feel better, even though the cap hit is the same for us, technically they get PAID differently. Casspi has been in the league for 3 yrs, so he will get $916,099 while Garcia, who has been in the league for 7 yrs, will get $1,186,459.
