If that's what it would've cost to sign and trade for him, then forget it. 14 mil a year is way too much.
To be honest, that defensive front would've been great, but the outside shooting would have been as big of a liability. So perhaps this was actually best. We'll see what we end up doing in any case.
I think Morey knows that he needs shooters. I like Smith but not at more than 12 which he obviously didn't want.
Damn, we could have traded Asik + Obert in a S&T for Smith with what he signed for. I hope we don't regret this. Pretty sure he would have taken 4 years, $48 million with the Rockets considering the tax savings and to play for a contender.
14 million per year - that's not that bad actually, a little on the high side. Now don't force anything with Asik, I'd like to see him and Howard together. But lets try anything for Aldridge and Love...
The chances of sign&trade for JSmith were slim to none after they signed Milsap, pushing Horford to the 5. With Detroit pushing to get JSmith from the get-go, this was already forseen that we wouldn't be getting him.
