Dwight/Harden/Parsons is our present and future. What does this team need to be true championship contenders? 1. Emotional leader with championship pedigree Harden and Howard are the best players but sometimes you need that veteran presence to guide the youngsters. Someone who's done it before and can teach the players on the court by example. McHale has that pedigree but someone else in the locker room would be great too. Ex: Scola, Kidd, etc. Ideally a veteran pg. 2. Enforcer A role player that is the consummate teammate and would have your back no matter what and would set the tone if things get tough. Ex: Sura/Artest type. Ideally a big man. anything else?
4. A full lower bowl that shows up to games on time and doesn't head for the exits after the 3rd quarter.
If we do end up bringing back Garcia, then we have the veteran enforcer. I know he has no championship, but I distinctly remember McHale saying Garcia isn't afraid of letting Harden know what he's doing wrong. He's also a great cheerleader on the bench.
1. A stretch 4, akin to what Rashard Lewis was Ideal Fit: Ryan "The Arsenal" Anderson 2. A veteran with championship experience and leadership qualities Ideal Fit: Richard "Rip" Hamilton 3. A '3&D' type player Ideal Fit: 'Frisko' Francisco Garcia (ACQUIRED)
1. A young, athletic, long, rangy hustler type that can dog the other team's best wing when your starters are out. Kawhi Leonard, Tony Allen, Thabo Sefolosha, Trevor Ariza have filled this role for NBA finalists in recent years. Right now Chandler Parsons is that guy for us, but we may want more depth off the bench in this regard. 2. Backup C if Asik is traded. Even if he stays you probably need one more big ideally for 6 more fouls, and not just the stupid fouls like DMo is all too happy to dispense. 3. As Miami has repeatedly shown, there is no limit to the amount of shooters you can stash. One guy bails you out in game 6 (Ray Allen), another carries you most of the way but is not feeling it in game 7 (Mike Miller), so finally you plug in guy #3 to tear the opposing team's heart out (Shane Battier).
Honestly, if we get Patterson and Delfino back, or 2 players that fit that mold, we could go to war with the team.
Lose Lin and brin in Chauncey Billups. I cringe at the thoughts of going down the stretch with Dwight and Parsons on the floor bc both are bad ft shooters, then add in josh or asik another bad FT shooter and James Harden who albeit a great FT missed alot of clutch ones. I want a knock down FT shooter at the end of games, I still think chauncey can punish you for leaving him open
