This was Stephen A. Smith about 30 minutes ago, who said he spoke with Dwight Howard 20 minutes before that. This is what Alex Kennedy posted two hours ago. When will people learn? <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Dwight Howard is en route to L.A. now to meet with Lakers. I'm told the extra money that he could earn in L.A. is still weighing on Howard.</p>— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA/statuses/353312409777213440">July 6, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Source close to Dwight Howard: "The reports are inaccurate. The Lakers haven't been informed of anything" WHY WON'T THIS END!?</p>— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA/statuses/353311406868795392">July 6, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
I knew 70% of the reports out there about Dwight was pure RUBBISH I decided to read through all the long update threads and reports anyway, to see EXACTLY how MISINFORMATION looks like this day and age. And to FRAME IT as an ANTI-example. I hope everyone else does too. Media mistrust going down even lower.
And then someone tries to give him credit for breaking the news 'when it became official again' when the Lakers twitter tweeted it before him. He just steals from other sources/insiders.
Auto-ban to whoever links Alex Kennedy as a source. No, but really though, I hope people understand that he isn't reliable and unfollow him like I did a long time ago.
I was tweeting back to him during that whole time. I also tweeted him after it was over demanding an apology. I doubt I'll get one.
I don't believe he really was reporting badly, besides "I'm told the extra money that he could earn in L.A. is still weighing on Howard." he was pretty decent. I mean he wasn't on TV screaming his ear off about Dwight being 50-50. The biggest douche in this story is still Broussard..
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Y'all really believe a guy that wrote for the Times and now ESPN just makes stuff up? I've been next to players when Broussard has called em</p>— Nate Jones (@JonesOnTheNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/JonesOnTheNBA/statuses/353348830793695235">July 6, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Although I do think many insiders occasionally make up 'sources'
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>I'm on the phone with Dwight Howard now. Quotes coming.</p>— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA/statuses/353359315983273987">July 6, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> Erm..OK? What now?
Twitter has really made a mockery out of sports reporting. This fiasco wouldn't have happened 10 years ago.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>I'm on the phone with Dwight Howard now. Quotes coming.</p>— Alex Kennedy (@AlexKennedyNBA) <a href="https://twitter.com/AlexKennedyNBA/statuses/353359315983273987">July 6, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Exelent post!!! I hate him so much (I delete him from my twitter) because he was saying all lies without inside information. Kyler sucks too Jason Friedman was going in the same way, but later he shut up! They won a lot of followers with all his trash
He's posting some great stuff from his convo with D12 right now. Kennedy is a young guy. He'll improve at his profession.
Alex was just reporting that he was on the way to L.A. via twitter he didn't know what for. My best guess is because the Rockets and the Howard's own reps. wanted to Tell the Lakers face to face. Then annouce it to the media. I commend Howard for handling his business in such a fashion. We were all just twitter flies on the wall trying to draw conclusions. I my opinion Alex did his job better than Chris Broussard who on the other hand had the chance to frame things in a better light than he did but instead chose to make D12 look like more of a flake in my opinion.
