HEADBANGER'S BALL RETURNS TO MTV! We have exclusively learned that Headbanger's Ball is returning to MTV....MTV2 that is, but that's good enough! Juilya, who hosts Uranium on Much Music USA and has plugged Metal Sludge on her show, will be the new host. The initial show will also feature guest appearances from Iann Robinson and Riki Rachtman. No word yet as to when it'll debut but we'll keep you posted. Of course this all happened about a month after Metal Sludge launched our own "Sludge & Awe" campaign against MTV. I guess the Sludgeaholics were heard after all! Now lets hope the show lives up to our expectations and shows a wide variety of videos. Jani Bon Neil Sludge & Awe
kickASS. I LOVED this show back when it was on, and the day it was cancelled was pretty much the day I stopped watching MTV.
This is the best news I've heard in a long time. (now, if only my system would pick up MTV2, and not just leave it to those who can afford to budget for digital... they can replace the regular MTV with it...)
Good, as long as there is no Ricky Rachtman. But the question is modern metal worth listening to much less watching?
Hey now! Watch it! Metal is still quite popular. I'm having a hard time believing MTV2 will actually show METAL videos, though.....probably just use the name Headbanger's Ball and play more Muddle of Pudd.
Has anybody seen that intro or commercial on Much Music USA where some hot rock chick keeps taking shirts off and dancing provacatively. And right as she takes the last shirt off, you see a little bit of heaven and then they flash either the MMUSA logo or Uranium or something?
That's cool as hell but I'm not surprised at all that MTV isn't carrying it. It would cut too much into the time allotted to play the same four rap, r&b, and teen pop videos 15 times a day.
That's great news to hear. I HATED it when MTV cancled the MTV-X channel on Digital Cable. They cancelled it for MTV Jams. Yeah, like we need more RAP on MTV. Like that isn't already on 24hours a day. Good to see at least ONE outlet for Hard Rock music!
Yeah, no thank you. Sounds like another show for Good Charlotte and Sum 41 to plunder. I highly doubt MTV will give any other bands much airplay.
They don't need "Yo! MTV Raps" because, when they are playing videos (and it does happen - turn it on late at night or in the morning), that's pretty much all they play. (with, as mentioned above, the occasional exception for Good Charlotte)
