Les always claims he would exceed the cap for a special player Well Chris Paul is special. At the minimum I don't want to see a bunch of cheap role players if we get Dwight
I don't understand what you're proposing? Signing Dwight will take us to the cap limit. After that, you are limited to bird rights and trade matching rules. You just can't sign Chris Paul (not that he wants to come) and Bynum.
K you do realize if we get Dwight, we are still limited by the salary cap in spending. And even if we don't get him, we are still going to be doing Delfino like contracts until we get that player
Kidnapping is still illegal, I believe. Kind of hard to pay Chris Paul if he doesn't want to leave LA.
You do realize that Chris Paul has already agreed to return to the Clippers? What should Les do to acquire him?
Glynch, you really should read up on how the league works. This is almost as bad as when you proposed every team trade their best players to Indiana for peanuts to exact revenge on the big market teams as part of some twisted, marxist logic.
If we get Howard, I definitely don't wan't to see scrubs surrounding him which the rockets are known for.
So which player was it that we lost because we were too cheap again? None of them, because we simply haven't persuaded expensive players to play in Houston. Les went over the tax threshold as recently as '10-'11, when our title hopes were dead and gone thanks to injuries. If the time comes, he'll write the check. But generally paying a luxury tax means "we've created a strong core under the salary cap (ie, Yao/Mcgrady/Battier) and are now paying to keep the core together after young guys demand more money." You don't just go out and go "oh hey, I think I'll go over the luxury tax threshold this year."
This thread might be dumber than the one where posters were saying they would rather build team chemistry than blow part of the team up to get another star.
