When we traded our 9th pick with Bucks for Jason Coiler this summer, I remember that we also got their first pick. Does anyone know the details of it? When will the pick be sent to us? Is it next year? Because of the trade, I wish that they lost every game. Not because I hate them, but because that would improve our draft pick posisition.

    It's Collier. [IMG]

The pick is sent to us next year unless it is a top 10 pick. So the best case scenario for us would be them just missing the playoffs and being around the 11-13 spot. Anything better (top 10) would be their pick. However, I still think this is definitely a playoff team, so my guess is it will be in the 17-20 range.

Cat, I think the Bucks are a very mediocre team, and they may well just miss the playoffs. In my opinion, the pick is looking pretty good right now.

Unless the Bucks get their act together, there will be no pick this year. They need to learn what I'm hoping our guys have learned: A little defense goes a long way.

I am also worried and hope they learn how to win at least a few games, cause although its a longshot, if they dont get a little incy wincy bit better, that pick wont be ours next year. I could never predict I would be hoping for them to get better this year.

I thought they were a lock to make the playoffs, I may be wrong.

I think the Bucks will get it together this year-especially if they can get rid of Big Dog for some more inside help. But even if they don't, if they jell together during the course of the season I still see them as a top four seed in the east--I mean there's nobody else. I wouldn't be surprised if our pick slips to the early 20s.

Apologies but I'm going to paraphrase some of the prior posters.

My recollection is that the pick owed by the Bucks to the Rocks in the Pryzbilla/Collier deal is Top 10 protected.

I interpret this to mean that if the Bucks make the playoffs, the pick is conveyed to the Rockets. If the Bucks are in the Lottery (a non-playoff team), the 11th, 12th or 13th pick is conveyed to the Rockets.

If the Bucks pick is 1 through 10, the process is repeated next draft. There is a limit to the repeating process, but it is like 5 years and the Bucks just aren't bad enough to be Top 10 for 5 years running.

From a Lottery standpoint, it is not only WHERE the Bucks finish but how the bouncing balls determine their draft position. It's weighted for their finish, but it can vary somewhat depending on the bouncing balls.
There is still an element of luck.
