No, he didn't. He said there was a stalemate because the Magic preferred to send Dwight to the West. And that's exactly what happened. http://theknicksblog.com/text/source-knicks-not-involved-in-howard-talks/
Considering you believe EVERY SINGLE PIECE of negative spin that has been posted no matter who it comes from, I think it is in your best interest to logoff till this is over. If I have to read more of you crying about how you believe this isnt or cant really happen on every page of every thread I'm gonna go postal.
If Dwight stays with LA and they have another year like last year, it won't matter if anyone can watch his show or not. If things don't go well in LA and Dwight is there, he's going to take the blame. Just like last year. He got crushed, some of it deserved but much of it seemed to be a scapegoating of him. Not sure you want to have a TV show in a town if you're the scapegoat.
If Dwight stays in LA, he's seriously not about winning. I would only respect him if he chooses Houston / Golden State cause they give him a serious chance.
Kobe JUST tore his ACL and won't be back well past the all-star break most likely. Gasol has been on the block for years now. They are probably going to trade him no matter what Dwight does. Without Kobe and Pau that team is literally a bunch of d-leaguers...I mean Jordan Hill will instantly become their second best player. Getting rid of their vets will be relatively easy since they are still well respected vets. They can take on those contracts for the Warriors....or they can tank out rather easily and get in on one of the best drafts in recent history. Lakers aren't about settling. That move with Barnes or Klay and Bogut is the definition of settling for something.
Why are you thinking of offering the Lalers anything? They don't count. The only person that matters is Dwight and what his wants.
Those worried about Golden State: Remember that he would still be subject to 13.3% in state income tax playing there, except without the 4.5% raises and guaranteed fifth year.
If he verbally signs and then changes his mind he will lose a ton of respect. That's just basic man laws right there, you give your word as a man and follow through with it.
Its the Lakers. They're franchise is all about winning. may not be the best place now, but they will always have a winner/contender
Translation: Yes, the Lakers and TWC are going to get crushed for this move worse than the billboards, but I did my duty and tried to spin it as a legitimate maneuver
you guys are forgetting something. Howard has to choose the warriors too... and then the snt thing comes into play. you act like oh crap...warriors offering all that...the lakers will so do it. If he goes to the warriors and they trade barnes or thomson...we have a better roster. Harden was and all star curry wasnt.. we still have all our assets to add a 3rd star they dont...and the kicker. He will only get the 4 year like us but WITH the state tax.... so this a non issue.
Here are the problems the Warriors will have in trumping the Rockets: They have no history of success. The Rockets can point to the two championships in the 90s. Two, Dwight has already trained with, and respects Dream. Hakeem played for the Rockets, not the Warriors. The Rockets have one of the best power forwards in NBA history coaching them, the Warriors are led by a hall of fame PG. The Rockets have a history of developing great big men, see Hakeem and Yao. Warriors don't. Money: Warriors have the millionaire tax problem, can only offer him a 4th year just like Houston.
Lakers aren't gonna give the warriors their franchise center for a bunch of shooters. He's either signing there or leaving and signing with us. There is no middle ground IMO. Besides we don't have to give the lakers ****, we traded Trob and now we can straight up sign Dwight.
I got that indication of course. Still.... talking about all the money and fame Dwight is going to have in Hollywood really doesn't seem like "pulling out all the stops" for Dwight in a presentation to me.... Dwight has been very involved in watching over his business side of the game from the time he was drafted. I dont know why this part of the presentation should be a huge eye opener for Dwight by any stretch. The fact is, he can only be paid what the NBA/NBPA/CBA allows him to make in his maximum allowance. If they are going into this making promises about future movie roles, shows they will put him in, and endorsements they can make happen if he re-signs I dont see how that's not a violation of the CBA in something like the "Giving and recieving Gifts" section, which Im sure they have, that keeps teams from basically paying players under the table... which is basically what this tells me they are insuating they will be doing. Time Warner is a huge part of Hollywood in the movie-making business as well, and it would seem they are using this as a major carrot on a stick to lure Dwight in re-signing back with LA. Bringing in Time Warner to offer him "something" his mgmt team isn't already aware of would be something the NBA would definitely want to take a look at.
