My only regret from this is that I KNOW with a mindbending, focused certainty that TRob willl have several revenge double-doubles against us in the future and force us to lose that one game that costs us that seed we wanted...
I think it is a perfect situation for him. One of the worst benched in the nba last season so he could really show what he can do and stand out from the rest of that "bench"
If we have Howard we will never be worried about what T Rob is doing. Don't sleep on the Greek player we got. Good SF prospect. Look. TRob had half a year to show something. He had a ill flash here and there but he was not showing he would be the future PF here. His contract became the piece that needed to be moved to go after Howard (or whatever other proven FA we get). T Jones has some promise as a PF also. Equal to if not even more than TRob. So we ok moving TRob.
We got a single 2nd rounder for Morris, we essentially got 4 for Patterson, and neither of those 2 are any more than fringe role players. Also from that trade, we seem to have Garcia willing to sign for an exception because he liked it here.
You honestly think the Rockets would allow Royce the Fruitcake anywhere near the Rockets roster next season while they are trying to mold a team for a (hopeful) championship run? Ain't no way. I repeat: Watch his reaction in October when they decline the option to guarantee his 3rd year.
They don't have a choice. The Blazers' bench was close to the sorriest in the NBA last season. Their GM publicly admitted he made a mistake. If they trade LMA, T-Rob will have plenty of chances to sink or swim.
I know it's not nearly as sexy to get basically 4 2nd rounders as opposed to a 1st rounder, but the way Morey scouts/develop players, it's perhaps better. The two Euros get to develop in Europe until the Rockets deem them worthy of being in the NBA rotation. And future 2nd rounders are likely in the top half of the 2nd round(35-45 range). I give these 4 picks a much better shot at having one pan out than a 15-20ish pick in the draft.
Even without Howard coming I'd take that trade. I am willing to bet we get at least 2 players out of this that will have a better Rocket career than TRob.
I think this only comes back to bite us if TRob turns out to be better than Dwight...No matter what he turns into with proper development and playing time, D12 was ALWAYS the endgame for Houston, no matter what pieces we had to give up.
if we get DHo can we get a Howard vs. Robinson thread going. TroShow is going to take a while to develope into a consistent nba player, and i don't think his upside is all that high. I never thought much of the guy.
This kid will replace Delfino and then some. He is a better option at stretch 4 than Delfino. Morey is looking for shooters at every position. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/MI8GrPYxv5U" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
If they don't get Dwight, this will come back to bite them. TRob is better than all 4 assets combined they are getting. If they get Dwight I will change my opinion.
