If Dwight Howard is dumb enough to sign with Dallas, then I say we dodged a bullet. No one that stupid is capable of leading your franchise back to a championship. C'mon, picking a 35 year-old, injury-riddled Dirk and a gutted roster over a 24 year-old Harden who hasn't even entered his prime and a solid, young supporting cast? All so he can supposedly be "the man"? Hell, if that's what he wants, he could go sign with Charlotte. He'd be the center of attention(literally and figuratively) for the rest of his career. And he'd win just as many titles as he would in Dallas, which is to say zero.

    Exactly!

And why cant he just fall in line and be a PART of a team?

Its a GOT DAMB team sport!!!

Media painting him as though he wants to BE THE TEAM!

If he wants the 100% shine then he needs to take up golf or nascar.

Any misconceptions are his fault for being wishy washy all the time.

It ALL started when he stupidly opted in....then said he was blackmailed into doing it. lol

Why? I am just trying to get everyone ready for the usual Howard antics. I know the truth sucks, but i would rather you hear it from me than someone you don't know.

If I were Dwight Howard I would want to go to either San Antonio or Houston, or just stay in L.A. WTF, Dallas? LMAO!!!

People are severely underrating the Mavericks and Cuban's appeal.

When they are good, the Mavericks arena fans are much better than Houston's. The Mavs have much more cache around the league. Dallas is more of a glamour city than Houston. Heck, when Lebron was a free agent Dallas was one of the teams he thought about going to.

The Mavs have been significantly better than the Rockets for the duration of Cuban's ownership and there is no reason to think they won't get good again in short order.

Dwight is not stupid for wanting to play for Cuban. I just hope he sees Houston as a better immediate fit.

You should ask Howard that. He's the one that has Dallas on his list of teams he's considering.

And do you think this is a championship team by just adding Howard...? Maybe Howard doesn't. Maybe Howard doesn't think Harden, Parsons, Asik and Lin are as good as you do. I don't know. But I don't think this is a championship winning team by just adding him. You have to ask Howard what he thinks.

The key phrase there is "when they are good". And yes, they've been contenders for a long time during the Cuban era, but those days are over. If Dwight were to sign there, they'd be a playoff team next year, but would have almost no shot at a title. Everything would hinge on who they'd be able to sign in 2014. If Dwight's thinking is he wants to go to a team coming off a recent title run with an aging superstar who would occasionally defer to him on offense, he has that already in L.A. And the Lakers will have a much better shot at LeBron or any other big-name free agent next summer than the Mavs.

So Dwight wants to recreate the same situation that he so desperately wanted out of in Orlando.

    Interesting indeed.

Oh. You're speaking the truth? I thought you were just wildly speculating like the rest of us.

As to the topic at hand - I take all of these reports with a grain of salt, but Broussard even more so.

Still, if there is any truth to this report, it would be just about the only reason I wouldn't want Dwight. If he'd really rather play with a washed up Dirk than a 23 year old superstar who has just emerged as the best shooting guard in the game - yeah, that would confirm all of our worst fears about Dwight and I'd then agree that we're better off without him. I also have reservations about changing our playing style. It's so fun to watch, and, he'd be fantastic in our current run and gun system. Obviously he would have to be featured, but I don't like the thought of tossing out the old system all together.

You're sleeping on Dirk. He averaged 17 ppg coming off injury and he still has gas in the tank. And he won't be in Howard's way down low on offense. But I think he would stay in L.A. if they promise to dump Kobe after this year. Kobe may want to play another 3 years but it doesn't have to be in L.A.

    *whoosh*

That one clearly flew quickly over your head.

I didn't say he isn't allowed to have wants and expectations.....my question, as you sped read, was why does his news have a tinge of alienating and/or dissing others?

You can say what you prefer, but why is Harden's name in that?

His (or his sources close to him) tactics are b****-made.

Defend that isht if you want.....but it is.

I have no problem calling him stupid if he signs with the Mavs.

    He has three choices right now;

    L) He can stay on a team with old stars, where he will have to endure another bad season like he did last year. They will have cap space in the future to MAYBE turn into a great team.

    D) He can go to an old team with an old star that will not be that good now but they will have a lot of cap space in the future to MAYBE turn them into a great team.

    H) He can go to a team with a young superstar, where he will be on a great team now AND in the future. He'll be coached by one of the greatest big men in the history of the game. He'll have a GM who will surround him with as much talent as physically possible. And he'll have an owner that doesn't mind spending a ton of money on a winning team.

Houston is obviously the best choice for him, and Dallas is honestly the worst choice for him. If he doesn't see that the yes, he's an idiot.

If that's really how he feels he needs to go to Dallas. Shaq won rings with Wade and Kobe. Dream won a ring with Drexler. A good big man and a scoring wing is a great combination. He should know that because he lost to Kobe/Pau in that one trip he had to the finals.

Maybe quit making idiotic statements about the Rockets. Dallas wants to talk about why they're a great destination that's fine....but quit spitting that non-sense....

I don't know why this was thread worthy, but after 6 pages, we're either bored as hell, or there's something here I'm too blind to see.

(no offense, Carl... not particularly meant as a shot at you)

    Consider the source, people.
