Exercise helps a lot. I haven't been to a gym in weeks since I have to watch what I spend these days. I just turned down a job I was waaaayyy overqualified for, and if I'm going to be doing entry-level, bottom-of-the-floor work, I might as well be doing it in something I'm interested in. Plus, I just know I'd be depressed and unmotivated as soon as I started it, reluctantly.
It's been scientifically proven that watching a zyzz video is equivalent to taking 50 servings stacked pre-workout.
I use different music or films a lot. It depends on what's causing the lack of motivation which movie or music I'd use. Also it depends on what I'm trying to get motivated for. Different novels can also be good motivation for me.
This, and make sure deadlines are set. If you have deadlines breathing down your neck all the time it helps prevent procrastination (for the most part ) and helps get you get in the go-go-go mentality of always trying to do things. Once you get use to a busy routine you find ways to squeeze in other things (workouts, reading, Clutchfans, etc.) It just becomes second nature after awhile and before you know it you're accomplishing a lot more than you did when you were smoking weed at home playing MMOs and eating cheetos all day...
I like to collect motivational quotes and read them when I'm down. Sometimes, anger gets me going too.
Pretty applicable to me right now. Just recently started a job as IT support in a credit union, but have been doing IT just part-time. Never quite believing in myself to do things outside of personal computer work. That's a bit of babble, but now I try and stay motivated by exercising in the mornings and then carrying that momentum for as long as possible. Sometimes it lasts a few hours, sometimes it lasts half the day. The unemployment for past 2 months was rough on the motivation and exercise got me through it, some days not.
Write a list if thingd you need to do tomorrow.Sleep for 8-10 hours. Wake up and knock out as many tasks as you can. Than you should feel accomplished and you should feel mentally motivated of your own abilities. Don't smoke pot. Drink only on weekends. Check for mental or physical illness. Set goals. Lift weights. Run a few miles. You should be good than
Keep your days busy, whether it be with work, sports, hanging out, etc. You won't have time to think about this stuff.
