I read this in the Houston Chronicle... Banned bands The NBA has sent word that the wristbands Cuttino Mobley and Steve Francis have been wearing have been in violation of league uniform standards. The cloth bands are inscribed with their nicknames. Mobley has worn Francis' "Wink" moniker on his arm, and Francis has worn Mobley's "Cat" nickname. Neither plans to stop. "They're going to fine me," Mobley said. "I don't care. They're being petty. That's me representing Steve and Steve representing me." Said Francis: "I don't know why they're doing that. I don't get it." Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the bands that they wear? They are not the only ones that have them with words on them. Just looking for insight. ...lights out... ------------------
I can only think of two things...1) not everyone on the team is wearing the "same" uniform 2) the NBA isn't seeing a dime of revenue on wrist bands. ------------------ In the end there will be no judges...only witnesses to my greatness.
That really doesn't make sense...hasn't Quitten been wearing that armband with "PIP" on it for the longest time? ------------------
And what about headbands? Everybody and their Big Dog wears them in the NBA. What, are we going to get rid of Moochie's "MOO" headband? That would be a tragedy. BTW, does anyone else think that Steve and Cuttino are a little too close? I love the fact that they're best friends, and its nice to see them having fun out there on the court. But damn - what's next after the wristbands? Friendship bracelets? Other articles of clothing? ------------------
I see it now...It's just like what happened when the league banned Jordan's shoes and fined him. Next thing that happened? BOOM! New superstar and sales sky rocket. It's gonna be very good for Francis and Cat as it well let the league know that they are here to stay. The fans'll go with it. The media'll go with it. The shoe companys'll go with it. Did anyone notice they changed the wristbands last night. They were dark blue instead of the white. ------------------
Back to the headbands and wrist bands. That would be a shame to take away the most colorful part of the uniforms!
