What are some of the worst butcher jobs you've seen on a movie that was edited for TV? My vote goes for Pulp Fiction. They showed it on WB a few years back, and it was just horrible. I never understood how they can show people getting shot on TV, yet god forbid they allow some cuss words. Second Place goes to Weird Science, possibly the movie shown the most on TV in the past 20 years. I used to rent this movie all the time when I was a kid, so I have it practically memorized. Every time I see it on TV, I scream, "DAMNIT! That's not what he says!!" Now, it's out of print and I can't find it in any video stores. I can't wait for it to come out on DVD...
"Blazing Saddles" is absolutely the worst movie to watch on regular TV. All of the good parts wind up getting cut.
The Breakfast Club is pretty horrible to watch as well. I laugh when I see Airplane and they leave the "sitting on your face and wiggling" line in.
What about the Die Hard movies..Oh man that wsa unwatchable. "Yippe Caye (sp?) BAD GUY?" Who rewrote that? Jeez...
My vote goes for Friday. All of the funniest lines where absolutly butchered. "You got knocked the HELL, out!" WTF. I'm with you A-Train on Pulp Fiction they totally ruined that movie. Sometimes it's best not to remake a movie for tv. If they can show Saving Private Ryan on tv then they should be able to show just about anything else including p*rn.
Best TV Edit movie ever: "Give me the keys, you fairy godmother." Who can tell me what movie is this from?
I thought of "Friday" as well when I saw this thread title. I don't even bother watching it when it's on TNT or TBS. What's the point?
they've attempted to put Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas on tv?? how stupid can you be? ehh we'll have to edit out half the movie but lets give it a go. it's not the worst b/c it's still a classic when on tv but the bleeping in Tremors takes away a lot of humor or just makes lines sound ridiculous.
Not because of the edit job but m ywife and I watched Frequency the other night on ABC. The commmercial breaks were terrible. They showed about 5 minutes of movie then 5 minutes of commercials. It was horrendous.
re: Usual Suspects line...you've got to be kidding me?!?!?! That's my favorite line of the movie, when Fenster says it: "givemethe****inkeysyou****in****sucker, whatthe****"
I was just about to bring up Scarface when I noticed you had mentioned it already. I don't know if they have shown this on network TV, but it would probably lose a lot of its impact. Great movie. Has anyone else noticed that the older Al Pacino gets, the more he just yells all the time in his movies? He used to be more subtle.
Al Pacino overacting is becoming really obvious. He used to be one of my favorite actors by now I find my self laughing at times when he is yelling at everyone for no specific reason. It's like they give him the script with an exclamation points at the end of everyone of his sentences.
Mallrats, my god Mallrats is by far the worst movie to watch on tv. Jay and Brody cursed at so many important lines that they've got other people practically doing most of their dialogue. Boy I swish I could remember some of the crap they came up with, just trust me when I say it is horrible.
Good Will Hunting was on the other night....that movie can't be done on TV. It's peppered with curse words they can't say.
Yeah, mine too. I would just have loved to have been there at the exact moment someone came up with "fairy godmother." As far as Die-Hard, it was "Yippie-kye-ay, Mister Falcon," or "Yippie-kye-ay, Melon Farmer." Depending on which version you watch. I couldn't make that up.
