Andrew Perna: #Pelicans are making Eric Gordon "very available," according to source. Demps wouldn't promise he'd be back after season. Twitter @Andrew_Perna

Damaged goods and/or they realize they're going to suck regardless so they're trying to minimize salary / maximize assets for now. I mean, look at the division they're in. They're basically fighting for last or second to last place regardless right now.

I hope we pass on him. He's injured A LOT.

He barely plays that's why. He's a solid player when he does play though, not sure if it's franchise/core guy good but he's a good player if he actually does play.

I'm still confused as to why they matched his offer in the first place.

Maybe if that last year was a team option.

As is, he is a high risk high reward type of guy.

Why wouldn't they? Smart thing to do. Worst case, they are going to get an expiring now. Not like they need that cap space to sign Dwight and compete for championships.

And best case, they'll get a good asset, maybe some pick in this draft.

Nobody's going to give any good assets for a frequently-injured Gordon and his albatross contract. If anything, they'll have to give up assets to get someone to take him. Unless the Suns make a move for again after the restriction is up, I don't think anybody will try to go after him.

Now they are dealing with an oft-injured, unhappy, grossly overpaid guard who other teams aren't going to give up much for. I'd say that they might have been better off not ever dealing with this headache since he really didn't contribute much for them on the court.

Well we'll wait and see. I suspect otherwise.

Hawks got a draft pick for an aging Joe Johnson on a long massive contract. Gordon may have had a bunch of injuries but he's young, much cheaper and on a shorter deal.

Is he still on a max? If so no.

If he was a free agent, yes for the RIGHT price.
