Bone density, body fat, muscle mass, and height make a difference. Also, you can't realy trust the websites' height or weights. It's what we go by, but LOTS of it is inaccurate.
I agree wit u but I do have to say that if by the time of his 4th year BY THE MOST he's not a 10-10 or a 10-5 at the least we do have to let him go!
Think of it this way: He was a highschooler when we picked him. So first year, ZERO expectations with some flashes. Correction: Eddie was drafted after playing one year at Seton Hall where he was ranked 2nd in blocked shots in the nation and 5th in rebounding.
This statement is so unfair. You have to compare Griffin to Wallace & O'Neal at a comparable stage if you want to compare Eddie to them. And at the same age, Wallace was just a dunker at UNC (I swear, I watched a lot of Tar Heel games then, and I can't remember 'Sheed making 1 jump hook or turnaround. But boy, could he finish an alley-oop. I also remember how this PF from Wake used to eat his lunch, some guy named Duncan.) Remember Wallace's rookie year in Washington, he did a Robert Horry imitation (sound familiar?), and hardly played in the paint. The Bullets\Wiz traded him because he was immature. Then, all of a sudden, 'Sheed comes back with that turnaround of his, and the rest is history. As for those comparisons to O'Neal, that's like comparing Eddie to KG, which is totally off-base. Totally different players. But as far as Wallace: * Similar size and length * Similar range (Wallace is the better shooter, may always be the better shooter) * Limited ball-handling skills (Let's be honest, 'Sheed isn't exactly on the Duncan-KG-O'Neal level when it comes to his handle, and he's not a threat to break Stockton's assist record. But Wallace is good for a few dribbles, or a drive to the hole. Griffin is just now starting to put the ball on the floor, and I have the feeling that he'll return with a decent little dribble-drive move as well. And 'Sheed has good footwork, much better footwork than Griffin, but he's not exactly a ballerina out there. Griffin can get there with work.) * Solid shot-blocking & rebounding ('Sheed has always under-achieved on the boards, however) The 'he's young, he's only 20' 'excuse' isn't an excuse if it's true.
I agree with u but u know what that 20 age thing can't really be an excuse but at the same time it can! The reason I say this is because look at Tony Parker, Tyson Chandler (lately), Eddy Curry(lately) they are all playing good! Yea I know bout Tony Parker havin Tim Duncan but what about the other 2! Yea the Rockets are young and the Spurs aren't but Chicago is too!
I Love Eddie as much as the next girl (Or guy) but he has to step up and play better! What he needs to do is bulk up a lil more and work on his shot and low post moves! Especially since were in the west which is ALL about PF! To me if he was to work on that he would be a good player! Also he had a good dunk last night! Is it me or should he try to dunk more!No Im not tryin to diss him Im juss sayin what he should do if he wants to get better! Shoo I'll forgive him for juss bein FINE!
Luckily I've been blessed with the ability to see into the future, and I say that... are you kidding me?!?! You can't predict how good someone will be! It's soley up to that person. Eddie can get as good as he damn pleases, but its only up to him.
The reason I said we should envision Eddie as a high school pick is because when he was picked he was younger than 2 out of 3 of Curry, Chandler and Kwame. He's in the same age group as those guys. Yes, Curry and Chandler are producing now, but Griffin doesn't play in the East and doesn't have the size of those guys. On the other hand, those guys don't have Eddie's touch from the 3, anything NEAR Eddie turnaround J, and we know for a fact that Griffin has a GREAT work ethic, on-season and off-season. In 2 years, you can compare Eddie with Rasheed in his ROOKIE year. Also, Jermaine O'neal took a LONG while, lots of bench time, and LOTS of practice to become what he is. I think Griffin can easily achieve that if he's given more time. He has the offense, and with size, will have the ability to bang in the post. The single most important thing is strength. Once he gets that, then we can judge him. I, for one, know he has the post moves, the work ethic, the skill/talent, and the potential to become great. the only difference is that I don't want to wait 2 years to see him become a star.
Yea i do have to agree on that! Eddie actually does have a good 30%+ shooting on the 3 and he does try to make himself a better player!
With... Steve Francis, Derek Anderson, Toni Kukoc, Elton Brand, Yao Ming, Jeff McInnis, Tito Maddox, Juaquin Hawkins, Terence Morris, Bostjan Nachbar, Elton Brand, Maurice Taylor, and Yao Ming...the Rockets annual payroll would be approximate $59,200,000. This is if Jeff McInnis does not want a raise and is signed by the Blazers before he is traded to us. And this is if Tito Maddox, Juaquin Hawkins, and Terence Morris resign with us without any raises. And it is if Elton Brand asks for about $14,000,000. ? There would only be 11 people. With... Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin, Yao Ming, Moochie Norris, Tito Maddox, Juaquin Hawkins, Glen Rice, Terence Morris, Bostjan Nachbar, Maurice Taylor, Yao Ming, Kelvin Cato, and Jason Collier...the Rockets payroll would be $54,000,000. This would be if everyone makes the same amount as this season and Francis has his new contract. With James Posey resigned for at least $4,000,000 a year, the annual payroll would be $58,000,000. There would be 14 people. So there is not a huge difference. But it is pretty impossible. First, Glen Rice is a captain. He probably has a good relationship with Rudy Tomjanovich. He will probably be with us until he retires. He and Mo Taylor and coach are all Michigan guys. And why would Portland want him? Derek Anderson would be great for us. He's big and kinda old...and his defense is not excellent. But he would be a good role player. Jeff McInnis would be a wonderful backup who is better than Moochie even though he makes less than Moochie. Maybe all they want is the draft pick. Toni Kukoc is old but he is still good. The Bucks would love Cato. They don't really have a center now. We need Toni Kukoc as a veteran and just to shoot and rebound. He is not fabulous, but he can still play. That would be a good trade since Cato won't be playing anymore. Cuttino Mobley and Eddie Griffin for Elton Brand. Well assuming Elton Brand would want around $14,000,000 next season, I guess it would be a good trade. Hopefully he will stop faking injuries. I think Mobley is better than Derek Anderson, but we wouldn't be able to keep both...Griffin is young. And he's still developing into a good player. But I would do anything for Elton Brand. The Rockets love Eddie and probably won't get rid of him. Francis may not want Mobley to leave... Our chemistry would be greatly disrupted. But we would have an awesome team. We would be over the luxury tax limit thing. But we would be great. But with Elton Brand, there would be no time for Maurice Taylor to play! And Mo has been playing well. He deserves to play. A solution would be because we have no other center besides Yao...is to have Elton and Mo play together at the same time while Yao sits out..and then Elton can go out and Yao will play with Mo. This team would be spectacular. Three All Stars. This would allow Tito Maddox and Hawkins to develop and get more playing time. Bostjan Nachbar and Terence Morris will get many opportunities to shine. And our team would be wonderful... But it is not going to happen. So for now...we are stuck with Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, Eddie Griffin, Yao Ming, Moochie Norris, Tito Maddox, Juaquin Hawkins, Glen Rice, Terence Morris, Bostjan Nachbar, Maurice Taylor, Yao Ming, Kelvin Cato, and Jason Collier as well as James Posey. I guess we have to do the best we can together. Eddie Griffin really does have talent. He is improving every game and can only get better. Patience...
LiTtLeY1521 so ur tellin me dat u would trade Eddie and Cat for ONLY Brand! 1st THIS WILL NEVER EVER happen! 2nd The Rockets don't wan't to move Francis to SG since he's been playin so good! and 3rd the rockets don't want to trade Eddie remember the trade that the Hawks wanted Eddie To ATL and Shareef to H-Town! and Also if the Rockets wan't to keep Steve u have to keep Cat cuz their BEST FRIENDS! and they do work good together plus the Rockets Organization LOVES Cat! TO me the Guy that HAS TO GO is Jason Collier Cato is playin to good! and Collier is just taking up cap space! Were paying him to stay on the IL!
I never said we should move Steve Francis to shooting guard. Cuttino Mobley and Eddie Griffin for Elton Brand. Yes. It sounds crazy. But that's pretty much the only way you can possibly acquire him. You have to give someone good to get someone like him...I know it's crazy. And yes. Eddie Griffin is adored by the Rockets. They didn't even want to give him up for SHAREEF ABDUR RAHIM. So I guess....hat's why it's not going to happen. But if it DID occur, Mobley would be gone. But in a trade with Glen Rice and a draft pick going to the Portland Trailblazers for Derek Anderson and Jeff McInnis, we would get a solid starting shooting guard and a very good backup guard. And it would be okay if Glen Rice and James Posey left because we would be getting Toni Kukoc from the Milwaukee Bucks for Kelvin Cato! This is the most realistic trade since Cato is makin way too much money playing 15 minutes per game. Yao is going to be playing more and more. Of course...we will lose a lot of inspiration and emotion and a very funny person and many alleyoop dunks though. Sad..but it would be to improve our team. Collier and Cato could both go!
