Rockets aren't participating in the summer league this year any ways so be glad he's playing some place.
I apologize they are doing Orlando summer league and might be contemplating the Vegas league. Either way dmo will be playing bball some where.
I think this is great news. Lithuania has a fantastic basketball team and the competition he'll face in the Eurobasket tournament will be leaps and bounds ahead of the competition in the Summer League.
Yeah, I don't see why Jonas Valenciunas can become such a physical big man in the Lithuanian leagues, but D-Mo is such a softy in comparison.
Look at how San Antonio stuck with Splitter and what they got out of him in this year's playoffs. He was crucial depth at center, and they might not even have made the finals without him. A lot of criticisms early on were similar to those of DMo: soft, poor rebounding, bad defense, inconsistency. Now he's still not a great defender or rebounder, but he can really punish other teams' benches with his offensive skillset, becoming a really good plan B when the backups go out there.
Splitter is like a majorly downdraged version of yao ming. He sucks at protecting the ball just like yao was, and he averages one attempted shot getting blocked per game.
The Orlando Pro Am is just like the Vegas Summer League, except the scrimmages are closed to the public. Only pro-sports personnel can see them play.
D-Mo cost us a bag of peanuts. Gambling on seven footers is perfectly acceptable if the price is low.
Splitter was a nice defensive player in Europe. His offensive skillset and hands were questionable. I agree with the general point, though.
Shaq played US high school basketball, and Matt Bonner played US high school basketball. How come they are so different? I do not understand.
He needs to grab at least 6 rebounds a game, and keep out of quick foul trouble. If he is unable to achieve that, Europe will be a better playing option for him.
I dont see why you all are so angry at Dmo for not performing that great last season. His offense was alright even if he was a starter. His rebound rate is kinda overblown, cuz there were other ppl grabbing every board. Now he sure indeed sucked on defense. It was largely on the fact he was to weak + inexperience playing at high level + he need to learn to defend. I read that he already put up 6 extra kg. Though im not sure if it includes offseason or not. But he sayed himself he wants to be tougher, more exploning and strong of his feet, while keeping his speed and quickness. Also he stated he wants to bully around other players in this years eurobasket.
Why was everyone shocked that a 22 year old Euro didn't dominate the NBA in his rookie season? Did anyone see what Dirk looked like as a rookie? Motiejunas was awesome by comparison.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>Gersson said that <a href="https://twitter.com/DonatasMot">@DonatasMot</a> is in "unbelievable shape" and was weighing 257 pounds when he left for Europe earlier this month.</p>— ClutchFans (@clutchfans) <a href="https://twitter.com/clutchfans/statuses/349571261279637504">June 25, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> It means he's gained ~30 lbs since he was drafted. We said he should bulk up and now he did... I'm excited.
