While it was a very nice tribute...am I being too much of a dick for remarking that most of his emotional pauses were fake?

Can't see it since I'm not state side.

I saw Craig Ferguson's opening tribute to his show when his father passed. That was full of feels.

No, I had some of those same thoughts but I later concluded that he was able to compose himself on the fly. On the other hand, they could be but I doubt it.

Good share. Seems like he's pausing to prepare himself for what to say next and also just in his eyes, it definitely seems genuine.

Nice tribute, but it looked either prepared, written ahead, or rehearsed.
It doesn't seem genuine, at least to me. I side with TISNF.

I'm sure it was all of those things-- except not genuine-- but maybe he needed that to get through it?

I'm gonna say TISNF and Swoly are being dicks. He's pausing to compose himself because he doesn't want to cry.

Was it prepared, yeah, he had pictures cued up, but he still wrote it, how is that not genuine?

Pretty typical response from one of those you mentioned in threads like this.

^ If you are too afraid to "sound like a dick" because you can't be honest, so be it.
The PAUSES. What's wrong with crying? Nothing. Go ahead and cry. What, afraid you're going to ruin your make up? Keep going. Need a moment? Have a snickers.

Well, so far this thread is going down just as I thought it would.

    Some things are so predictable.

And... so... you're not surprised... and... WHAT, does it hurt your feelings, or something?

Very nice and very touching. Of course it was prepared and rehearsed ahead of time, I mean this is a professional produced show after all. That doesn't take away from that he is grieving for the loss and remembering the life of his mother.

Just an interesting side not but he pronounces his mother and sister's names as "Colbert" with the "T".

That's something Hulu adds before clips.

When people read a eulogy at funerals, I always think "this is so disingenuous".

Looked genuine to me...he was clearly composing himself.

    Nice video.
