And his name was also Lucky. He was a 16 year old Miniature Schnauzer who sadly has been declining at an alarming rate over the last two months. He began to lose weight, his arthritis kicked in so he could barely walk, and his bladder control was well, out of control. I got him when I was 10, I loved him every day. When I would visit home from college he would jump around in the most excited fashion. He was funny, intelligent, loving, and would know when I was down and try to be with me. Today he fell down and was showing signs of a stroke. 16 years of being my best friend, and he passed away in the arms of my parents and I...hearing my mom sing him to sleep tore me up but I know he is at peace. Rest among the stars my friend. I will always love you. Spoiler
This is a sad day in Hangout for dog owners, dog lovers, and just in general, folks here who have lost pets that were loved dearly. I'm very sorry to hear of your loss, but at least 16 years is an amazingly long run. That's quite a long life for a dog. My grandfather had a Collie who lived to be 20, which is very, very unusual. He followed Grandpa everywhere on his ranch in East Texas, and was a demon when it came to snakes, sniffing them out and killing them on the spot. Grandpa hated it when Ginger passed way, and said he'd saved him from snakebite countless times.
Sorry for your loss, breh. This is why it's good to just keep hamsters, fishies, guinea pigs... because losing your dog/cat hurts.
16 years of life, that is a healthy pup. You are bless I'm sorry for your loss, all dogs go to heaven.
Wow, what a great looking dog. Bet he was a tough little booger. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and with that beautiful dog.
You still have an emotional attachment to them because they are pets. It doesn't matter if it's a hamster or fish, pets are still pets and you love them. Unless..... There's something else we should know about Jontro?
I don't understand how anyone could get attached to fish. They die so quickly. I've also had hamsters and guinea pigs die on me and I aint even mad doe. However a cat died on me and it gave me the sads. That and the time I had to sell my love bird because I was constantly out. Don't like dogs though. Dogs don't like me, so I reciprocate.
Sorry for your loss. It is indeed a sad Clutchfans week for dog lovers. I'm sure Lucky is in a better place and you both had 16 years of a bond that can never be forgetten. Here's a little bit of something I put together in memory of your little Lucky. It's a stone we have on our mango tree we planted when we lost our dog last year.
Damn dude thank you. Thank you to everyone who commented or sent a thought in our way. Today was rough, first time since I was a kid he didnt welcome me home from work...but I know he was suffering and now that suffering is over.
Sorry YDS, losing a pet is tough. He looks like he was a great dog. I have 2 senior dogs so I know the time is coming soon. Positive thoughts for you and your family during this difficult time.
