Has anybody tried emulating the famous Running up the steps in dramatic Fashion from the Rocky movies? To those currently reside in Philadelphia or visited, how's the experience in that city?
I'll be visiting Philadelphia soon, I was asking honestly if anyone who've been to Philadelphia what's the experience like.
I've run up those step...meh. I say run up the steps..just so you can say you've done it. There was no big thrill in the run, no great accomplishment, but I can say I've run up the Rocky steps. I spent 24 hours in philly when shooting an episode of Dallas Cowboys weekly with Drew Pearson & Bill Land for FSN back in 2000 or so. We went to the bars at night with a camera..looking for Dallas Cowboys fans, that was fun. My favorite quote from an eagles fan that night "I hope Randal Cunningham starts so we can break both his legs" - yeah, typical Philadelphia "city of brotherly love" response. Saw the Liberty Bell, The Museum (Rocky steps), Independence Hall, and the old Veterans Stadium, and Elfreths Alley.
You'll probably find the experience underwhelming. Just have someone take a picture of you posing triumphantly at the top of the steps and tell people you ran them. Oh, and when you get a cheesesteak, skip the touristy places and just get one from a street vendor with a long line. So much better.
Philly is a city with random ghetto ass blocks sprinkled all over. People there are way too bro-ish for my tastes and love to start beef and get into fights. It is also a very homogeneous population. Everyone is from the surrounding Philly area.
