if i were howard id rather play with harden, if i were paul id go with horford. bigs need a small who can facilitate, get them the ball and take the pressure off, and the littles need a big who can finish, rebound and play D.

knowing that dwight and paul are packaged, id ultimately choose harden bc he presents the bigger upgrade at his respective position. i just think hes a better two guard than horford is a 4...even though hes an excellent 4.

So Harden can play with Durant and Westbrook, but not Dwight and CP3?

The joke obviously fell flat with this one. I'm not sure if your trying too hard nowadays or not trying hard enough.

Harden will be the #1 SG in the league next year, or close to, whereas 4/5 hybrids like Horford, while not a dime a dozen, is probably going to be easier to fill. Horford may be just a top 10 player at either PF or C position.

So I don't think I need to answer your thread question seriously ...

Assuming the cap projections are correct, yes.

I would think they would take the least less-salary destination, if they were to team up.

While the Clippers may not want the Lin and Asik combination, the reality is Morey could trade Lin and Asik separately to teams under the cap to create the cap space, and the threat of this means the Clippers are better off trying to get assets like Lin and Asik back and sort things out later. Unless they want to blow things up.

So you would say he's a Chandler Parsons' type player?;)

Why is this even a question?

    Who is better now?

Both are the best players who had a mediocre team around them. Which team was better? Houston had 45 wins, Atlanta 44. But Houston is in the West, Atlanta is in the East. Clear advantage to Harden.

    Advantage: Harden.

Who will be better in the future?

Al Horford is 27; he is likely at or near his ceiling, and only a few years away from the beginning of his decline. Harden is 23.

    Adantage: Harden

Time for CH to take a much deserved breather. Step away from the BBS for awhile, regroup and come back w some new material.

Your first rationale is flawed, even if the conclusion is correct.

Harden may be a top offensive SG but look at DWade and you'll see how far he is away from being truly elite. Al Horford is a plus player on both ends of the court. The guy is a 2-time Allstar for a reason.

Harden is better relative to his position. Horford is a better fit.

PF/Cs who can shoot efficiently from mid range/post/pnr, hard worker, high motor, can rebound, defend paint, perimeter, play sound team defense, pass from the high post, high IQ, pretty much everything about him is above average to elite. AND he makes 12 million a year for the rest of his prime.

    --- Not a dime a dozen.

There is nothing about Al Horford that's elite. He's a big man that doesn't block shots. He's had one season out of 6 with 10+ rebounds. One season out of 6 with a PER of 20. Free throw percentage is good but not great and on the decline. As for his "All-Star" berths, he plays in the freaking East.

Career 14 and 10 big man who doesn't block shots. Not bad, but compared to James Harden? Yawn.

Morey collapses from laughter. I wouldn't even take Horford for cap space -- I think there are better uses of $12+ million in flexibility going forward than a big man you know isn't elite and without much further upside.

He also has a shorter window of being in his prime, and we've got Harden locked down for the next 5 yrs. Horford is not a dime a dozen, but I mean, neither is Harden.

But if we're being true to the title on who is a more attractive teammate, has to be Harden. He has that x factor that makes people want to play w/ him, in part due to his popularity.

I would definitely never trade Harden for Horford lol, but I would spend $12M cap room on Horford for our team in a HEARTBEAT. Spend the rest on a great 6th man and we're in it to win it.
