Yup, it's an absolute joke. My guess is this whole episode is due to the publicized Atlanta email incident, after which the NBA did a review to make as big of an example as they could. All for show.
Even if Friedman doesn't need front office approval, it seems like he or whoever he answers to would know what is off limits. It's not the first year we're going after free agents, so that's been a hot topic for a while now. I think Stern decided to nitpick the website content as a way to punish them, and warn them, about tampering with Howard, which they probably have done, but he can't prove it.
They don't want Dwight on the Rockets. It's obvious. The NBA needs the Lakers to do good because that means more $$$ for them.
Why would Morey voluntarily assume a fine that wasn't his fault in the first place?? Two wrongs don't make a right.
Its easy to say, its not my money, ok. But basically, is possible that a good employee has a feeling of guilt right now, for a well done job. If you are the maximum responsible and think that, you defend your worker publicly. In my opinion. And Morey probably can afford the potential fine with no problem. Of course, its not my money, again.
The funny thing is Jason F. Has been doing that piece every summer for I don't know how many years!!!!! Such B. S.!! My owner needs his money to buy us a Championship!!
Question regarding recruiting of free agents Just wondering about something. Can a team present a compensation package to a free agent that includes a ready-to-sign endorsement contract from an outside company? Example: Could the Rockets package a slightly-less-than-max contract with an above-the-table endorsement contract for a Chinese sneaker company for Dwight to consider? Something tells me it would be against league rules, but maybe it's not. Bima?
