Its not about whose on the team. Its about Shaq saying "well im not playing if Phil Jackson isnt the coach" or "If Mike Bibby is on the team, I am not playing" or telling Larry Brown that he should say "I am not coaching" if Allen Iverson isnt on the team.

Hell yeah Iverson is better than Bibby. No question. However, Shaq needs to either play for his country, and be happy to, or just shut up about the whole thing. Hes acting like a child. Players like Steve Francis would love to play for the good ol USA. Shaq acts like Team USA should cater to all his preferences if he is going to play.

    Thats my point.

Shaq is so right, that it hurts. Bibby has absolutely no business on that team. He had one good playoff run and people consider him God. He blows ass. I know this because he is on my fantasy team.

Some of you are actually commending Shaq for his comments? What's the matter with you?

First of all, he already said he's not playing , so why the **** does he even care who else plays? He obviously doesn't give a **** about the success of the USA Basketball team. I have ten times more respect for Mike Bibby than that ignorant, lazy ******. He has no right to comment on this.

Second, Mike Bibby almost single-handedly beat the Lakers in the playoffs last season, and in my opinion, performed better than anyone else in that entire series. Shaq, Mike Bibby whooped your entire team's ****ing ass last season. Shut up!

Third, Shaq is starting to scare me with his recent praises of Allen Iverson. Didn't he recently say that AI was one of the five best players to ever play the game? Sounds like they might be in cahoots.

Shaq and his entire shtick has just become tiresome. That being said, I'm looking forward to the game tonight! :D

And for the record, I think AI should be there instead of Mike Bibby too.

I fail to see the Laettner connection. Bibby's selection is based on his performance in the pros, Laettner was only on the team because they wanted a token college player. Laettner had never played pro ball!

And yes, Iverson is a better player than Bibby. But USA basketball may be thinking about team cohesiveness. After all, the team will already have plenty of slashers, so why not get somebody who can take a kick-out and knock in a three? Bibby is a FAR better shooter than Iverson.

On a side note... I think it's damn funny that after the playoffs last year everyone was declaring Bibby a god, and I was one of the VERY few who said he was overrated. Now EVERYONE seems to think he's overrated. Why don't you guys take it a little more time to watch before forming an opinion?

So did Steve Francis. We are not fielding an All Star team...we are fielding a team of All Stars. Big difference.

FYI, in the All Star game Iverson took 23 shots, had 7 assists and 6 TO'S. Those numbers sound familiar? How 'bout the result of the game?

Thats funny I seem to remember Doug Christie playing great defense, Vlade flopping and making great passes, and Bobby Jackson doing all the intangibles that helped the Kings almost beat the Lakers.

Bibby doesn't deserve to be on the US Olympic team, thats my opinion, I believe we're all entitled to one. However, the governing body that selects players decided to add Bibby to the roster, so even though I don't believe he should be on the team, I'll still cheer for him when he plays.

You have entirely missed the point. At issue is not who is the better player. It is who is better for the team.

Further, you and most everyone else has neglected something. Bibby and Iverson don't play the same position. I don't care where AI started at the All Star game...Kidd played 33 of the PG minutes.

Bibby is on the US team as Kidd's backup at PG. If you want Iverson playing PG, your losing it.

Don't even try to tell me that the Kings would be successful with Iverson as their PG. This is so unreasonable it's not worth discussing.

So, I exaggarated a little. I think everyone would agree that Bibby was the MVP for the Kings in that series, and was the main reason they were as close as they were. There were games where he carried the team down the stretch. Just seems funny that Shaq is undermining a guy that his team had absolutely no answer for.

Yes, you're entitled to your opinion, and so is Shaq. But have you ever heard of something called "class?"

    Shaq is right.

Now, if you have a problem with him not playing, which is a totally different issue, then start a thread bashing him for that.

He is entitled to his opinion, that I feel is correct.

I am shocked, Kidrock, is siding with a laker. .

The point is, the guy has said he wont play, if you wont play then you have no room to talk about who gets selected. he turned them down, he cant talk.

Lets think outside the box here, maybe, just maybe, the people making these selections are trying to create a team. To have a good team you need guys that are willing to sacrafice for the team. IF I remeber correctly thats why we lost last time around, Too much I going on. not enough team. I just think they are trying to get a good balance of players, that will function together as a team.

Sorry, but I have seen very little of A.I the makes me think he is a team player. He is an amazing talent, but not a good team player.

It's not a totally different issue. If he doesn't care to play, then why does he care who is selected?

I don't have an issue with Shaq not playing, I have an issue with the way he turned it down. But what do you expect from a guy who has absolutely no class.

Shaq is an idiot. I never hear him say anything intelligent or worth a damn.

See that Laker gets their ass kicked AGAIN by kings, Shaq should learn to shut up.

Although I want to see Allen Iverson on the olympic team, I think Bibby is good fit for the team too.

I don't really care who's playing for the worlds if Francis isn't playing but I really did find Shaq calling Mike Bibby a boy scout really funny. I can imagine Bibby in those blue short sleeve shirts with the yellow scarf and knowing how to start a fire out of sticks and stones. Funniest thing Shaq has ever said. :D

Would it be funny if he said the same thing about you?

Shaq: "Asian Sensation was good in school, but he's really not much value in the workplace...his co-workers do it all for him and make him look good."

If the Rockets were more of a rival (or if they become one), how about if Shaq says something similar about Steve Francis?

Shaq: "Well, Francis is good but he never really won anything until the big man got there."

I shouldn't be, but I am still truly surprised when tasteless nonsensical personal attacks pass for humor.

But the point that everyone seems to be missing is that what Shaq says is absolutely true. I don't really even like Iverson, but there's no way Bibby should've gotten the nod over him or even Francis. It's all about image and politics, not skills.

And if I may go off on a rant here, Francis really deserves a spot. He's easily been the most vocal guard about joining the team. I think that attitude alone would guarantee he'd be a team player, and he has no issues with sharing the ball when it comes to other all-stars. And he's a better player than Bibby, no question.

No, the point here is not whether what Shaq says is true. It's the fact that he says it in public about another player not deserving to be on the national team makes him classless. Plus this comment made in light of his having refused to play for the team makes it doubly classless. Plus his suggesting Larry Brown to do the same classless thing makes it 3 times classless.
