Let me say, I am definitely am a huge Rudy T fan, but something I have noticed has really started to bother me. I am by no mean giving up on the Rockets after only 4 games, I still believe they will do good this year if, and that is a big if, they can stay healthy. They, also, definitely need another big body, besides Collier, that brings some scare of defense unto the other teams.

But, one thing I have noticed, since Rudy T has been coach, is that no matter what offense he runs, he does the same thing for forty-eight minutes. When Olajuwon was the man, we dropped it in to him, and he either took the shot, or kicked it out to someone for a three. And we would run that play all game long. Now, that it no longer works, everyone aplauds Rudy for being able to change his system to fit his players, which he has done. But now all we run, is a isolation, one on one, offense. He has no ability of changing the plays up, and try to do different things throughout the game, in order to keep other defenses confused. It is just my observation, and thought I would throw it out there, now go back to your regular scheduled program......

Well, I find it very disturbing that most times when we get a Off-reb, we end up missing layups or getting it stuffed. :p

Other teams against us, offense rebounds means easy 2 points. [IMG]

Hopefully, it'll change when cato gets back [IMG]

My biggest gripe with Rudy is his lineups. For the entire second quarter, we see a lineup of Francis, Mobley, Norris, Bullard, and Thomas. I am getting sick of Bullard at center. For the entire fourth quarter, we get Francis, Mobley, Norris, Kenny and Taylor. Taylor is not a center, and can not defend like one. That is why we give up so many points. Rudy needs to start playing his starters in the fourth quarter, like every other team. He needs to play Hakeem.

To Rudy's credit, that 4-guard lineup is the highest scoring lineup we can put on the floor. When we're going into the 4th down by a significant margin (say 10+ pts), then that is the quickest way to catch up that we have. It is decidedly weak on the defensive end, though...

It's all a balancing act from the coach's standpoint. If he feels that scoring is what we need, then he'll go small. Defense, big. Logically speaking, he's making the right decisions... Of course, it doesn't work that way in the real world. Our guards are not always going to have stellar nights, as our defense will disappear (too often, it seems) at times too. He's just got to try and get a feel about how everyone is feeling that particular night, whether or not they're pumped an feelin' it. One of those "It all depends upon the situation" things...

But you really can't blame him for going with a proven formula at any given time then...

But what about defense. How are we going to stop other teams with this lineup. If Rudy goes small, we stand no chance against the Lakers. I think Rudy is a great coach, but so far this season, he is not taking advantage of what he has. A top 3 center of all time.

Practice makes perfect. If it works, do it again.
