He injured at the second Q last night and felt very uncomfortable on the court. After the postgame interview he had to hold somebody else to leave the locker room. http://sports.tom.com/Archive/1019/1042/2003/3/21-11916.html
I haven't seen this reported on the Rockets.com site or in the paper. Anyone have anymore info on this? Talk about the LAST thing we need right now!
A Chinese reporter who is following the trip with Rockets wrote this article. She said when Ming was walking he was so suffering that he had to hold somebody's arm.
It doesnt seem to be a big deal, for the report didnt mention the injury until the last part of it. Yao talked about how happy he saw Sabonis again last night in the report, and was amazed by his passing skills. Too much respect to Sabonis, big fella! He's great, but he's freaking 40 years old. Yao got schooled by him like he is kid learning how to play basketball. The guy cant jump cant move fast enough, he should be in jurassic park or something. I am really upset that Yao didnt took it to Sabonis last night put some moves on him, tore him up. Instead Yao took himself out when Sabonis was on, which his teamate had no problem with!!!
Yep. Well Yao can't be injured for the NBA. The NBA is depending on him to get ticket sales!!!!!! Man....arenas have been oversold out. More than sold out. More than capacity. Anyways...hopefully Yao is feeling all right and can play well against Golden State.
Sabonis' body can't play any more. But he still has one of the highest basketball IQ in the league. I don't really mind Yao looking up to him. Yao can learn a lot from watching him.
Yeah, Ming should look up to him off the court. But on the court ... Man, he got A.Davis into the foul trouble early in the game. Then Sabonis came on. He just looked like he was totally trilled by Sabonis presense. Come one, there is reason whey Sabonis plays behind A.Davis. He could have not guard Ming, had Ming take it Sabonis by out-moving him. It was the same story the 2nd half. Got going with A.D then took himself out of the game against Sabonis. sigh.
They used to say that about Larry Bird, too. He had no vertical, was slow, etc. Sabonis is still quite possibly the best passing big man in the game. He's still a good player even in the limited minutes he receives now due to his body failing him.
In last nights game I think J hawkins accidentally ran too close to Yao and stepped on the back of his heel which cause Yao to fall forward, Yao grabbed his leg in pain while sitting on the floor for a few seconds. Though Yao got up and hobbled for a couple of plays it didn't seem to serious because after about a min Yao was running like he usually does and in the second half he seemed fine. I hope it wasn't serious because we really need Yao right now, unless Francis keeps jacking shots up like he has in the last two games. Talk about night and day between the last two games and the 5 game winning streak, no kind of passing at all to wide open players.
I don't know which game is watching. What I saw was totally different. On so many occasion, the ball was not passed to Yao when he was wide open. When he had the ball, Yao usually did something nice. In fact, he brought Rocket back to the lead in the third quarter. Then he was benched. When he came back with six minutes to go in the fourth quarter, Rocket was down by ten points. The worst even Yao had no touch until the last minute. If you did not have the ball, how could you took it to Sabonis?
I just feel Yao gives passing too much credit. He likes to pass more than score, rebound, and block shots and takes more joy from it. People are talking about him being not aggressive. well, I guess it's unlikely to see that change in the near future.
