I was buying food from my local pet store: PetSmart Houston Heights 1907 Taylor St, Houston, TX (713) 863-0533 when I saw this being watched by the cash register girl Her name is Sammy and she just walked into the store last week. The dog grooming employees have been watching her for a week and the girl up front was training her today. She's estimated to be 1 year old, mixed, mild tempered, and easily trained. She was sweet in the 10 minutes that I interacted with her. Tomorrow, they are taking her to BARC Houston where they'll probably put her down after a few days, bc her face looks like it has a pit mix to it. Right now, she is free. Go to PetSmart and take her. I have no yard, or I would. I'll email some rescue organizations too.
I thought they were all kill shelters, especially if there's a pit mix to them. At least the employees took her in...it's actually against PetSmart policy to take in a stray. Nice move on those ladies' part.
These guys might take it. http://www.cnn.com/2013/06/02/world/asia/thailand-dogs/index.html?iref=allsearch On a serious note, I would love to take that dog because I grew up with dogs my entire life but my wife already nixed the dog idea for me.
If you walk into any PetSmart grooming station (or hair salon for that matter), it's the same type of crowd of ladies...sometimes mixed with a couple of gay guys. My apologies to the straight guy hair stylists and dog groomers who are reading this.
Looks like my brother's mutt. Just a bit lighter coat color. She's a good dog, and that dog looks like a good dog, too. I'd expect that somebody could be a happy owner. My brother's dog has been the best behaved young dog I've ever seen.
I really hope someone will be able to take the dog. I'm not in Houston, and I'm not allowed by the law to have anymore pets. 3 is the maximum here.
Swear to God, if I wasn't about to go on vacation I'd stop by there on the way home and shelter it until I found it a home since I'm right down the street. Sending it to BARC is sickening. I'm gonna call the wife and see if she'll pick it up tomorrow and take to the SPCA. That dog, especially at it's age would be adopted out fast. This makes me so angry!
It bothers me so much how dogs can be put down just because they have a hint of pit bull. It's one thing if you put down a dog that has already shown to be aggressive, but preemptively killing an innocent animal because of what it is?
LonghornFan, we're neighbors, right? If I take that dog tomorrow and hold on to it until the weekend, will you be able to watch it when you come back? I'm going out of town in less than two weeks and will be gone for a few weeks. I'm not looking forward to the potty training, but hell, it's a nice dog afaik.
