I am very curious to see what people on here think about Hibbert saying "no homo" in a postgame press conference. <iframe width="640" height="360" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/kc_xd6JPTis" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> There have been some very strong words by "people on the internet" saying that what Roy did was very ignorant and will hurt people. That saying no homo is a lot worse than saying mother****er. I simply don't really understand. Do people really get offended by a sophomoric joke that ends in "no homo?" This is something I read on the Pacers ESPN blog - link to article I created a separate thread because I thought this could spark some interesting conversation.
If the gay brownshirt crowd (which specialises in being offended) is going to be offended by such an innocuous comment, then they deserve to be trolled.
Every teenager in the world currently has said that. "I love you like a brother, no homo" "Bro nice haircut, no homo" "Bro lets have sex, no homo" its innocuous and nothing serious, people need to relax ye
He just doesn't want to be considered gay. Whats so wrong with that? If he was to say "not Jamaican" i.e .. would J. people get offended? People these days are so homo. Oops, I mean sensitive. His look, his words, his money.
He obviously should've gone with the more PC friendly "pause" Hibbert: Lebron really stretched me out, pause. Would've been no problem there and most people wouldn't have known what he was talking about anyway. But yeah I have no problem with the no homo comment personally. He wasn't saying it in a derogatory manner and if you took it that way then you're just grasping at straws
What pisses me off even more is when a homeless guy gets mad after he asks me for spare change and I say, "I do not have any money, no hobo."
interesting answers from the NBA Dish crowd. it shows ignorance and insecurity. if you have to go out of your way to make sure people think you are such a man's man because you might have said some comment that people would actually question your sexuality, then its not about political correctness at all, it's about immaturity and insecurity... "pause" is a humorous way of catching oneself and probably wouldn't even register concern...
he'll get a $50k fine, might be doubled or worse for his "i dont care about the fine" remark, add the mother ****er comment in and it could go really really high, is there actually a point of dumb**** said in succession that can net you a suspension? lol.
I really like Roy Hibbert. Didn't think much of him before these playoffs. Very fun to watch him play. He is very skilled. I really hope that Indiana beats Miami tomorrow.
Would tend to agree they talk the loudest on it. Still its so obvious whats going on these days. Its "EVERY Single Demographic Besides Traditional Masculinity - MAKE YOURSELF HEARD!" People who even just feel slighted or marginalized are now self-assign themselves as the vocal purveyors of tolerance. Getting sick of really lol. But now there's other athletes coming out so its gonna be even more "harumph-ing" about it.
