I agree, and I'm starting to warm up to J.Smith after watching our defense cost us more games than our offense.

he's not changing his shooting form, he's making tweaks and adjustments.

I hope you meant those numbers are insane and not I'm insane.

I acknowledge the numbers I posted for Dwight were an absolute dream scenario:

    20 pts / 15 reb / 4 blks

    Let me give some justification.

    20 points per game
Dwight scored 17.1 points per game last season as a second option behind Kobe. He has averaged over 20 points per game for four seasons and his highest is 23. I believe he will concentrate on developing his offensive post game in Houston under McHale and Olajuwon. Furthermore, I think Houston's pace will allow for more opportunities, especially from offensive rebounds.

    15 rebounds per game
Last season Dwight averaged 12.4 rebounds per game. He has averaged over 14 a game in three seasons, his highest being 14.5 per game. Again, with Houston's pace and volume of three pointers, Dwight will have more opportunity to rebound. 15 rebounds a game is an attainable number, especially with no strong PF rebounders like a Rodman to steal his boards.

    4 Blocks per game
Dwight averaged 2.4 and has never averaged more than 2.9 per game. With Asik backing up Dwight at center, he can be far more agressive on the defensive end. Our defense last season was terrible at allowing dribble penetration and I have a feeling with a player like Dwight, McHale may even adopt the strategy of running shooters off the line and funnelling them to center. Dwight will be our defensive captain much like Tyson in NY, he will be focussed and I'm hoping for a real breakout record breaking performance on the defensive end here.

I understand I may have rose coloured glasses on because of the excitement of free agency. I remember many people on this board predicted numbers of 17 / 8 for Jeremy Lin last July and he only got 14 / 6. If Dwight's numbers are shaved by a little, say 18 / 13 / 2, that would still be really impactful for the Rockets and I would be more than happy with his acquisition.

    In response to OP:

I hope Howard to Rockets isn't the best thing to happen to the Rockets since drafting Yao because it hasn't happened yet.
I think the best thing that has happened to the Rockets since drafting Yao is hiring Daryl Morey.
I think that will hold true even if he add Howard.

And both of them are useless away from the goal. Spacing would be horrible with Asik and Howard on the court together. Morey and McHale would be dumb as hell to start both of them together.

I don't understand folks' fascination with DHo. When they look at him, they must be seeing what they remember. What I see is an injured, aging, undersized center who depends 100% on his athleticism, can't make a free throw to save his life, set a new low for free agency spectacle, couldn't make it on the big stage, and is not an upgrade over what we've got. Forgotten Greg Smith's career performance? Forgotten Asik knocking down free throws when OKC tried that gimmick? Want to watch hack-a-Ho, game after game? Want to set the franchise back another five years? No thank you.

Howard's only value to Morey is as a smoke screen to Morey's true intentions.

    Huh?

Classic example of a thread title reader who thinks the worst topic is representative of the thinking of the majority here. That Brandon Jennings thread has 20 votes and a 1.25 star rating and the comments are overwhelming negative about pursuing him.

    Educate yourself indeed.

I LOVE Yao. But I'm saying durability plays a role. I hope you're not comparing getting ejected to the numerous chronic foot injuries Yao had to endure.. Dwight is more durable. Thats all I'm saying

Um... Although I appreciate the enthusiasm, isn't this thread a bit premature? I mean, we can talk all we want about how great Dwight to the Rockets is, but matter of fact is this is still far, far from happening yet. Let's hold off that champagne bottle for just a sec here.
