Plus they had Harden last year.

He was a huge X Factor for the Thunder and if he would have stayed hot throughout the Finals he more than likely would be a champion today and remained a Thunder.

    Thank god he didn't.

Now everyone is talking that parker is best or second-best. I remember at the beginning of the season (can't find a thread) getting laughed at when saying that parker is an elite PG and almost everyone saw him outside top 5 or even top10. majority was saying that ty lawson is better than parkert.

well, I do believe same will happen in the middle of the next year.

Parker is, was and will be always underrated. Because he's french :)

As noted, that's because they're good. We (rockets fans) saw first hand KD's ability this year.

That's because he's a role player. Like Perkins. Sometimes they play well, sometimes they shrink. But Green wasn't good the first two games of the series either, which the Spurs won.

Again, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the Thunder are miles ahead of the Spurs when healthy. But again, I went to Game 1 last year, and the 4th quarter was as classic a Brooks/Westbrook failure of a quarter as you've seen from them. Throw in a bit of KD not fighting enough to get the ball early in the shot clock during the quarter, and you had a mini-collapse. The moment was too big for them briefly.

Otherwise, even if you go on a quarter by quarter basis, Game 2 was the only game where the Thunder lost the quarter battle (only won 1 quarter). Otherwise for every game the Thunder won or tied the quarter battle. Excluding Game 2 the Thunder won 13 of 19 quarters - Spurs won six, final one was a tie.

The Thunder were just obviously better last year.

I think the Spurs are maybe a little better this year. Not that noticeable. Thunder were obviously better this year, though I concede its unclear what would have happened against the Spurs in the playoffs absent Harden and with Martin

I totally disagree with this statement. Most of the Eastern teams in the Finals in the past decade or so (including this year) had easier path to the Finals than the Spurs this year.

The Heat played the Bucks (6 games under .500) and the Bulls (injuries decimated). And the Pacers they are playing is not better than the Grizzlies the Spurs just swept.

fair point. though many of those east teams lost in the finals.

disagree about the pacers this year. Why are they worse than the Grizzlies?

I don't get why some people think just because Duncan is 37 that makes him "old" and washed up. It's not like he's running a sprint.

I'm not surprised the Spurs are back in the Finals. Hopefully Tracy will score some points.

49 wins in the East vs. 56 wins in the West.

The Pacers are not as good as the Grizzlies.

I would like to see how he would have done if he was on the Clippers. Clippers would lose in five in the first round at best. He is a very good system PG who has always gotten to play under great circumstances. Nothing more. Top 3 PG sure but he is far from underrated. Underhyped maybe.

People tend to forget how many terrible games he had these playoffs because his team was good enough to win even with him playing poorly.

Interesting. Any reason why French people get underrated?

Agreed. Can't beat elite teams like that.

they don't have flashy players.....they don't play an exciting style of ball most of the time.. and ppl don't regard regular season success as top of the tops

he's only had 1 bad game, 1 mediocre game and the rest of his games (12) have all been good or excellent...

I had Parker at #2 before the season started, and considered him an advantage head to head to Chris Paul (who I had at #1), as for him being under rated, I'd tend to agree though.

Underrated and Overlooked. If not for the nasty divorce, he should of been All-Star in those years, as of now just only 5x. I don't think many NBA fans voted for him for the All-Star game and I know I'm guilty of that for not voting him to All-Star games. Parker is a career 50% FG shooter, for a PG that is top-tier. And his PPG has improved every year since he is no longer husband. I rarely see him miss a layup, or when I think he will miss a jumpshot, he seems to never miss. If the Rockets were gifted with TP and Duncan, we .............

Because French is international and all international players are underrated.
For Example - Dirk - very few considers him as one of the best untill he wins NBA and then next year he's behind kevin love and blake griffin by half people including nba analysts and media.
