Why can't Yao take more jumper?

In games where opponents commit to doubling and tripling Yao, it seems that Yao doesn't get too many touch. But what about his other asset, the jumper. He has shown that he can make those consistently. Why can't the Rockets get him involve that way. We have seen them run such play for him now and then.

I just don't understand why especially when others are struggling with their jumper and they keep going back to them while Yao is not given a chance.

Yes. He definitely can make them. I'm not sure why they don't.

I remember one time......Mo Taylor and Yao were both next to each other wide open.

There was three seconds left....and Mo Taylor had the ball...with Yao right next to him.

Who would you want to shoot it? Yao or MoT?

    Well Taylor missed that.

    I don't know why....:(

I remember watching Hakeem on Beyond the Glory. He said it wasn't fun when he was limited only down in the low post and constantly being double and triple team. He had to develope the mid-range jumper later in his career to counter the double and triple teaming him.

Yao as a rookie already has one of the sweetest mid ranged jumper in the NBA yet the Rockets failed to take advantage of this. It doesn't make any sense for me at all.

I think we've all decided that that would make things too easy.

They need to get Yao trained and experienced in the low post since that's his weakness, I guess.

The Rockets wanna limit Yao's game so they can sign him cheap after the rookie contract! Genius.

I agree with this. I think the Rockets Brass is trying to work on Yao's weak points. It is a move for the future. Once the inside gaame is established, his outside jumper will be given.

Besides, we would all be whining our asses off if we had a 7'5 guy who was playing an outside game. Admit it.
