Grizzlies had 3 days to rest and prepare for game 3 and they came out blazing, with a 17 point lead, lost that lead, sent it to OT and L. I believe the Spurs want to close it out and should get the W to advance to the NBA Finals.

    Sorry rmpd :p

The biggest difference is Greg Popovich vs every other coach.

    Memphis = frauds

Definitely wouldn't be facing the Spurs if OKC had Westbrook

    came into this data ...

The Spurs are 3-2 over the last two postseasons when trailing by at least 18 points. The rest of the NBA is 3-61.

Just wow, such a good team, they can come back like any other team on the nba.

I wonder if Woj is working on another piece about former cable sports company worker Hollinger and how he led his team to failure vs. the Spurs.

Memphis aren't frauds, the Spurs are just underrated. Everyone expects the drop off, or a repeat of 2011, but compare the rosters. Rudy Gay didn't play last time. The Spurs were giving Antonio McDyess and the corpse of Richard Jefferson big minutes back then. You can also tell that Duncan was much slower in that series. I think the Grizzlies have a nice formula, but they need more consistent shooting.

It's true, but Hollins is still a pretty damn good coach. Definitely surprised by this series...didn't think the Spurs had enough endurance.

They'll be favored against the Heat.

Memphis is a decent team, but lack consistent shooters. In this day and age, great defense can only get you so far, you NEED to score.

Personally, if Duncan wins a ring this year or even comes close I think he clearly surpasses Kobe for player of the generation between Jordan and Lebron. Right now I have them neck and neck with Duncan fractionally ahead.

If you get swept in the WCF you pretty much are frauds.

Especially Memphis who only made it to the WCF because of injuries to key players. Healthy Blake Griffin and I think Memphis still would have won that series. If Westbrook played I don't think Memphis would have won that series.

They lost back to back OT games. It's not like they'e getting destroyed.

Yes but losing is losing doesn't really matter what the score indicates. First 2 games they were down big and tried to come back and failed.

3rd game they came out with a big lead and blew it. Unless they give the ball to Marc Gasol watching Memphis on offense is painful.

Geezus what happened to the L?

In the old days it was the Spurs blowing big leads...

Guess there just isn't enough talent teams these days

Would Spurs +160 to win the Finals a good bet?

    Miami is -200
    Pacers + 600 (tempting)

It matters when your assessing how bad their losing or how outmatched they are.

Sure, they are down 0-3, but the smallest of differences and they could be 2-1.

The Spurs are just a finely tuned machine that have all their parts working together perfectly with one of the best designers in the business (Pop).

Chemistry and coaching are worth something, obviously.

Memphis needs perimeter shooting in the worse way. Pops knows this so he will double Gasol/Randolph and make Allen/Prince/Conley beat them. Memphis should look into getting a JJ Reddick or heck even Kevin Martin. They need someone who can knock down the long ball.

They need cheap guys like gary neal, mat bonner, danny green. Look at san antonio, nobody wanted those guys, and they got them for cheap, now they are great for their offensive setup. They shoukd have traded gay for guys that can shoot. They dont need even more defense with a guys like tayshun prince
