Why do people always try to dunk/shoot layups on Adonal Foyle?

You know, it was already perplexing enough when people still tried to go inside on Adonal Foyle. But against the Kings, they attempted 3 layups and 2 dunks on him in only 24 minutes! Of course, they were all blocked. Doesn't anyone read the scouting reports anymore? Jeez! It's called pulling up for a jumper and not embarrassing yourself. I mean, the guy is one of THE GREATEST shotblockers EVER. Why do people still try to posterize him?

If they miss the midrange jumper, then there would be a thread wondering why they are scared of Foyle.

Because it works. And it's impressive dunking on a guy that size. I mean, it doesn't even look impressive to dunk on Foyle, who is 6-10. So why try?

Token Warriors fan here, checking in with the answer(s).

    1. Foyle's key shot-blocking skill is his quick leaping -- he's so fast to react & get off the ground that he can seem out of position to opponents who are driving. So they'll put up the shot thinking he can't get to it, only to find out differently.

    2. At only 6'8-1/2", Foyle doesn't stand out in a crowd of players. Whereas you can't help but notice Ming (or, for that matter, Erick Dampier) out of the corner of your eye as you drive, Foyle can blend into the traffic until it's too late (see #1).

    3. The Kings-Warriors game turned into a rout shortly after the 4th quarter started, so Sacramento probably got a little careless with their possessions, driving without worrying about getting blocked.

Man, I hope that's a bad attempt at a Bill Walton impersonation...

He's been in the league for SIX seasons! Gee, you think longevity might be an indication of greatness? How about we wait a couple more years before anointing him one of the best shot blockers of all time...

Why didn't you just post a list of the best shotblockers per 48 minutes?

Then how do you know that he'd be in the top ten?

Foyle commits more fouls than blocks per game. That is why he only plays 19.3 mins a game.

    Get off his jock.
