Umm, what exactly was tony supposed to do? Did he embellish the fall, yes. Did everybody know that he did and did it influence the refs decision. Ultimately no. The refs called a flagrant foul and reviewed it and confirmed it with instant replay. I seriously don't get this, except to say that the league office is basically questioning the refs decision and saying it was a bogus call. If any other player or coach did that they would be fined.
You are by far the most biased poster on here. His head did not touch the floor and three seconds after landing he grabbed his face like he got punched by Ali.
I don't believe the flagrant foul had anything to do with tony grabbing his head. It was because Manu basically flipped Tony in midair with his hard foul. If you want to go with the letter of the law and say tony did things to deceive the ref, well yeah he did that. But the refs made a decision to call a flagrant foul based on what manu did, not what tony did AFTER the fact.
The fine was for tony allen flopping by embellishing the foul. I am not arguing about whether or not it was a flagrant. Tony acted like he hit his face and nothing touched it. the video clearly shows that. That warrants a fine. There is no place for these antics in the league.
I always thought the end result of the player being hurt (or appearing to be hurt) had en effect on whether or not a flagrant was called. I'm trying to remember that Finley or Andersdon phantom foul back in the Spurs Mavs series years ago. I also remember Stevie Franchise getting some flagrants on mostly clean blocks, but the end result being a tough fall. Hell, I've heard Worrell say this on the air. Maybe it's changed now, but I would like some clarification on this flagrant rule...Not the rule perhaps, but how's it's enforced.
The argument on why LeBron wouldn't get fined for flopping when Muhammad pushed him is because it really was a flagrant foul. So why is the same not applied here?
Awesome ****!!~~ Soft a$$, that was just a normal playoff foul. Dishonest pu$$y. When his teammates come over, he was like, "don't worry, it's nothing".
If that was a flop and the refs called a flagrant AFTER REVIEWING, shouldn't the refs get fined instead?
There really was no flopping during the foul. After the foul when he was laying on the ground acting like a pansy, that garbage deserves worse than a $5,000 fine.
Seriously, that's not a flop!! It's acting for sure but 99% of players act like they're hurt more than they actually are when getting hit or already going to the ground. Also, not a flagrant.
