Seriously. Posters that are complaining about this: Texans didn't even have to donate a single penny. Are you guys going to chastise the Rockets for not doing anything? smh
Kevin Durant is a millionaire who he donated 1 million. He only has a finite amount to make as much money as possible as a basketball player. Bob Mcnair is a Billionaire owner of the Texans and he only donated 100,000. It makes him look cheap. Surely, he could have donated more.
I really hope that you are trolling. Otherwise, you are honestly giving someone crap for donating to a charity.
Spend $100,000 and the couple was all over the local news showing off they care. What a great publicity move!
I really question whether some of you people are just dumb as rocks. You're seriously giving someone crap for *only* donating 100k? Bob McNair could donate $5 and it would still be a good thing. Get a brain.
Lets see how much $$$ KD donates when there is a catastrophe of this magnitude in Houston. I bet that $ is 0.
No need for this to be political / jealous / whatever is driving your opinion of McNair. What this means is that McNair did a good thing and Kevin Durant is a hell of a human being.
FYI : The McNairs donate to more than this, so to say "they only donated $100,000 to Oklahoma's tornado victims" as if that's the only donation they're going to give out is, well, idiotic. Last year, for example, they donated at least $1,000,000 to the American Cancer Society alone. I'm not sure how much money the McNair's foundation itself has donated over the years, but I recall reading in the past it was several millions of dollars. Hell, he donated $25 million to his alma mater, South Carolina, and $100 million to Baylor College of Medicine. He's not stingy when it comes to giving money.
It's also not clear where KD got the money he donated. It's unlikely that it simply came from his paycheck, and more likely that it came from any number of sources: one of his charities, a sponsor, whatever. It's really great that he donated money to relief. It's fantastic. I'm just a little hesitant to starting canonizing athletes for their charitable giving when so much journalism has shown that their charities are total shams.
People also are forgetting that the Oklahoma tornado affected Durant on a personal level. He is a member of the OKC community. Moore is essentially a suburb of OKC, between OKC and Norman. It is local...it becomes personal. I applaud his effort to give back to the community in a time of need. McNair gave $100,000, which is a lot of money and will feed and clothe a lot of victims.
This has to be literally one of the most asinine things ever written on this message board, and that is saying A LOT. Seriously, you're chastising someone for giving $100,000 of hard-earned money, and you're doing it because he's worth a lot more than that? Who are you to say ANYTHING about how much someone gives to charity? Are you going to chastise Kevin Durant for not donating anything to the Hurricane Sandy fund? What about the MILLIONS of dollars that Bob McNair donates to Baylor College of Medicine every single year, or how much he gives towards cancer research?? Where are your accolades for that? This was a disaster that happened in OKLAHOMA. If something like this (God forbid) happens in Houston, is Durant going to donate $1,000,000? Think long and hard about the implications of that. This attitude is unbelievable prevalent in society today and it bothers the hell out of me. People can do what they want with their money.
how much money has donated the rest of the teams?? any NFL, MLB, NBA star is a millionaire, it makes them look cheap, they havent donated any money. How much has donated Bill Gates, I mean he is the richiest man in the world, why he doesnt give anything??
