My old apartment had Suddenlink but offered some speed packages with the highest being 50 mbps and was only around $30/month. That was a great year.

IIRC, they're replacing it with a soft cap where you have to pay $10 per 50 gb above 300 gb cap. I don't know if they've done it yet or not since I haven't hit the treshold for a while.

So with the speed doubled, they've now increased the price?

With the NBA winding down and football a few months away, I can see a lot of movie streaming in my near future. Because of this, I broke down and ordered Internet from these guys to replace my Verizon DSL. I shared a long story in the CSN Houston thread a few months ago, which explained why I had to switch to crappy DSL to begin with. And I had to circumvent the system to get them to reconnect me, but I digress.

Anyway, I bought a Moto SB6120 SURFboard and signed up for the Performance level speed. Will that be fast enough to easily stream 1080p HD video via an Xbox and VOD on DirecTV? Both the Xbox and the DirecTV DVR will be wired. No doubt it’ll be better than what I’m getting from 3-4mb/s DSL, but I don’t want to be disappointed or have to pay $75+/month for Internet service.

Streaming in HD is really all I'm looking for, and maybe a little online gaming later when the new Xbox drops.

You should totally be okay with performance. I have the 50mb package (Gets me about 70mb easily), and since I use DD-WRT, I have everyone in my household not named scionxa throttled down to about 15mb down, and 3mb up. No one complains
