Gamespot's PS4 vs Xbox One Twitter battle: Damn Sri Lanka... http://www.gamespot.com/twitter-battle/xbox-vs-ps4/
Microsoft ****ed up. I get the idea of going casual, but if you're going that route, you can't add so many restrictions! As a self-admitted Playstation fanboy I am happy, but I'd be pissed if I had a 360.
Never really understood brand allegiance in these matters. Whenever a new generation comes out, I consider myself a free agent. I had an Atari 5200, then an NES, then a Genesis. Took a generation off and had a PS2 then a 360. The only one I regret is that I was young and was duped into following SEGA down into the pit with the SEGA CD and 32X.
at least they actually showed us the console but Microsoft seems very stupid with this. Sony pissed me off early on with the PS3 when I had one (still never got a 360) and was thinking about swinging over finally, but it seems like I'm going to go with w.e will provide the most entertainment and freedom.
I agree. Try out both and buy the one you like better. I'm probably not buying either of them, but if the new Xbox won't let me play used games then I would never buy it. There are a lot of jobs based on the used video game business and Microsoft doesn't care. It's greed and I remember MS was talking about doing this before the last Xbox came out. The only way they get away with it is if their fanbase is "loyal" to them.
Yes, A friend of mine isn't working because the devs aren't making any money. I know this move upsets the cheapskates, especially the cheapskates here on clutchfans, but this stuff affects real people.
What if I want to sell a game I don't like after 2 weeks? I'm screwed. Pretty much every time you spend $65 for a video game you know you won't be getting 1 cent of that investment back. Unless I have this DRM thing wrong, because that doesn't make sense to me. Why would a company be so willing to screw over its customers?
If they plan to do it this way, the games will have to be cheaper, especially singleplayer. $60 for a few days of play is too much.
Tough luck. I bought a game just like I bought a pair of shoes. I can do with it what I ****ing please. If you want to "rent" me a game that I have no right to lend to someone or give as a gift then don't try to "rent" it to me for $60.
PC game devs have fixed that by adding on-line to every game which is what customers buy the game for anyways. Nobody plays solo anymore. The Xbox was far more easier to pirate on. I only owned one for a couple of months, but you could even play games on-line.
that's true what you say, but microsoft's strategy is welcome for the gaming developers. you're getting the bobby brown rule wrong, plus you don't buy shoes like you by video games. nobody buys someone else's stinky shoes, and video games don't get worn out. i'm not saying that this is a great business model, but it's one that keeps the people who make the games employed.
Before this press conference I was a Xbox/Microsoft supporter but no used games is a deal breaker for me. PS4 > Xbox one
Most devs are millionaires so I expect them to become more expensive. Think of it like this. They will be still be $60. But how many games did you buy brand new? How many games did you buy new, but on sale for $20-$40? They will be more expensive because they won't need to drop the price of new games in order to compete with the used market.
you're forgetting all the other people who work on video games, like artists, animators, marketing, etc So you don't care about people losing their work because it doesn't affect you. I get it. If you buy an app or game on Apple Store, can you resell it?
Let me know when the majority of apps on iTunes start selling for $60 Either way, all this will do is fuel piracy. I think Xbox forgets their target market.
Most of the ones I care about are well off. They work for major companies. I don't buy or pirate indie games. Just because I'm forced to pay full price for video games doesn't mean I will buy their games now. You have it all wrong. This will hurt new and small devs if anything. I'm less likely to try out their game before I spend $60 on it because there is no used market. As for app store purchases, when new games on Xbox are $3.99 then ask me that question. Has Sony confirmed they won't be doing this? I think Microsoft backs out after all the backlash they receive if Sony doesn't do the same thing.
