I'm afraid to fly. I fly an avg of 30,000 miles a year, and for the first time since I started this job ('93) I'm scared as hell to fly to Minneapolis tomorrow. I'm also performing at a club thats inside the Mall of the Americas, an assumed terrorist target. Damn I miss open mike.
I've been to Minneapolis Airport many times, Just stay away from those damn soda machines that charge you 2.75 for a bottle of Sprite And the Mall of America sucks, I've never had an urge to take out an Uzi and shoot up a place before, but when there is no place to sit in the food court, you want to.
You'll be fine. I'd worry more about making people laugh in Minnesota. Terrorists are nothing compared to those hecklers.
oh, and don't make fun of Garrison Keeler, while you are there. Minnesota "where the men are good-looking, the women are strong, and all the children are above average." Can you say Fuhker with a Swedish accent?
"The only black people in Minnesota are Prince and Kirby Puckett!" ...one of Chris Rock's best lines. I wouldn't sweat it. Since the increase in airport security, I don't think that terrorists would use resources to try and hijack a plane bound for Minnesota.
(It's Keillor)... Anyway, I wouldn't be worried about flying to Minnesota. My brother booked Virgin Atlantic tickets from London to LA yesterday. You could imagine how an overprotective Jewish mother would be, but in this case, my mother isn't worried!!! It's like the first time ever... This is from the same mother that wouldn't let me walk to elementary school EVEN THOUGH I lived literally a block behind it. I wouldn't worry; the only thing that might bomb is your act.
Get on the plane you wuss !! You have a job to do...make people laugh, at this time, that skill is more important than many others. So off with you my man !! DD
I remember flying to Canada during October of 2001. I was scared until I realised...I'm going to Canada. I think when you look at the constituency of the plane you will be less afraid. At least I hope. At any rate, your fear is real and therefore in my prayers. Knock them dead, AB! DD is right. You have a VERY important job to do in wartime, I would say more important now then ever.
Whoa, don't scare him more. What if AB ends up being the only black man on the plane with a constituency of equally scared good-looking men, strong women and above average kids.
