I read in another thread that DMO (via tweet) was already working on getting stronger and his game. I believe he's got the potential to be anywhere from very solid to great (depending on how he's employed). We didn't do a great job of feeding him in the low post consistently last year. If we can work that into the offense, then I think he'll flourish. As for his 3pt shooting, I don't think he's that bad. He ended up taking some bad 3s as the shot clock was running down. When he was set on the baseline he seemed to be much more consistent. As many have said, defense was his Achilles heal last year. He just looked awkward at times and his help defense landed him on the bench a lot. However, he tried to move his feet and seemed to get a bit better before heading to the bench. I actually liked him playing with Asik, they seemed to offset their weaknesses at times. However, match-ups are important in the NBA and that duo didn't always work. Like someone said, I really like our young PFs and hopefully we give them some time to develop.
I think he will be a force with time, he has skills that none of our other big men have. It seems strange to me that so many people have given up on the guy after his rookie year.
No doubt about it, you do not have that length and quickness and not make an impact in the league. How big of an impact is completly up to him. DD
A force? What does that mean? Can he get in the rotation next year? He'll have to fight for minutes with T-Rob and T-Jones who are ahead of him (IMHO). If the Rockets sign another Big, he'll have to compete with him too. So I think its going to be difficult for D-Mo to breakout unless a lot of things fall his way like trading away T-Rob and T-Jones or injury or something like that. What disappointed me the most about his game was jacking up 3s at 28%. I know its not his game and he was forced to do that by the coaches but so were a lot of other players, Jeremy Lin for instance had to become an off-the-ball spot up 3 point shooter and he managed to put up average numbers for his position. Maybe its just that you have to grab the opportunity when it presents itself and he didn't do that. He better bulk up, work on his defence and rebounding. Work on his outside shot. If he becomes above average in all those areas then he might have a shot at getting in the rotation. Only after that can he think about being a "force".
Fair points, but being a 7 footer that moves the way he does and has an arsenal of post moves are pretty much never seen anymore. The bar is set high by CF because he has tools you can't teach.
He won't have enough time here. You all know how Morey is. Plus, Jones is already ahead of him as far as development and being in the rotation. It will still be hard for him to get any playing next season.
DMo needs to pattern his game after Bosh, another tall lefty (though with longer arms). He'll never be as good on D and unlikely to be as good a shooter, but has a chance to be better in the post and possibly a better passer.
Depends on how often he's in the weight room this summer. If he bulks up and improves his defense, he can be a force.
His weight has little to do with anything. He just needs to learn the game and stop falling down so much.
you guys dont know what youre talking about. Of course he's going to be good. In his limited playing time, D-mo showed flashes of brilliance. He's got the talent and the skill to be a special player. I see him as a 17 pts, 7 reb, 2.5 assists type of player. Other than Dirk, I can't think of many 7 footers with his skill set. He can shoot the 3 ball AND post up. He just needs more time to develop. Last season, he was trying to do too much, the game was a little too fast for him and he made many mistakes. But he's a rookie.
