I meant there is zero hate now. I know there was a thread someone made; but I don't think that was hate either; seemed like veiled sarcasm on the Lin hating going on back then.

And no, Lin hating certainly didn't happen because of the resistance now, "the Hate" was a phenomenon by itself.

Interesting point. So you're saying the people who control the media are trying oppress the men of a minority in order to more easily seduce the women of a minority? No wonder they act like "crazy ants".

If non-Asian guys have odd "preferences" for Asian women, it certainly doesn't harm them if the media drags Asian guys through the mud.

I don't think it's any coincidence that the non-Asian media powers-that-be are not all that enthusiastic about including positive portrayals of Asian men (unless they're forced to in extraordinary circumstances, like during Linsanity).

Mr. Yunioshi, Long Duk Dong, William Hung, Mr. Chow... Hey, it's all "just a joke"!

But that's a whole separate issue that'll completely derail this thread.

1000X yes! Yo TJ, Dinkum, hltiki, zdrav, Jetfuel etc.

Do you guys hate these redundant Lin-bashing threads? Me too! You guys are keeping these threads alive! I guarantee if you guys stop posting in these threads, they will start to disappear. I GUARANTEE it.

I, like you, am a Lin fan, and want these threads to go away. But they won't if you guys continue to bump them. The more you post and argue, the more they will be dragged out.

So from a Lin fan, please stop defending him. You guys are only making it worse for the rest of us!

Yeah, let's not go there. It'll only fan the flames.

Why would you want to keep this thread intact?

Probably because Asian women are more feminine.

All these clowns. It's real sad. And the sexier ones are treated either badly or play bad guys.

All these people brainwashed by the media, sad. So the question is, is that racism?

You mean the oppression and injustice is gonna get worse?

This thread has taken an interesting turn.

Jeremy Lin is a large reason we lost lost this series because...

non-Asian men have fetishes for Asian women. Is this an American phenomenon? Houston phenomenon? or Clutch Fans phenomenon?

This thread has digressed. Leave race and fetishes out of it.

If Jeremy Lin performed to the best of his ability and wasn't hurt (given that Westbrook was), I believe we could've beaten OKC. So Jeremy is a large reason why we lost the series and a key to our advancing in the playoffs in the future.

I beg to differ. Anybody like candlewax? Frankly I sorta get the appeal.

But Lin had a decent first year as a starter, as was crap in the playoffs, but was limited alot by his injury. Case closed, relax, move on, time for more Parsons

Really, the last thing I want to say about this...

If by "feminine", you mean potentially more easily impressed by white privilege because they themselves are not white, then yes, Asian women are more "feminine". That's really what the MRA-types who adore Asian women and revile "Western" women mean when they say they prefer the "femininity" of Asian women.

In reality, Asian women are just like all other women in that their personalities and appearances vary too much to be pigeon-holed as "feminine" or "masculine" or whatever.

Isn't it hilarious how in "Red Dawn" and "Olympus Has Fallen", Hollywood got foreigners like Chris Hemsworth (Aussie) and Gerard Butler (Scotsman) to play all-American heroes, while forcing ACTUAL Americans like Will Yun Lee and Rick Yune, both Korean-Americans, to play dangerous foreign threats?

This is Will Yun Lee's real-life wife, btw:

There are still large parts of America that would be uncomfortable, if not hostile, to watching a movie where Lee would play an ordinary guy who ends up with a woman like that. Nah, better give him a bad Generic Asian™ accent and have him get beaten up by the "all-American" white foreigner. LOL

You're right in that if we argue that Lin is an important part of the Rockets, he must also bear a lot of responsibility for the team's failures. I think the person who recognizes this the most is Lin himself, so we can expect a lot of hard work and improvement next year.

However, it's grossly unfair to say that were it not for his play (or lack thereof), the Rockets would've advanced. Far more pieces would've had to fall into place for the Rockets to beat even a Westbrook-less Thunder team. For example, Harden can't go 7-22, commit crucial TOs in the last couple of minutes, or jack up way too many 3's and expect his less-talented-and-experienced team to beat the #1 seed in the West.

Would the Rockets have beaten the Thunder if Lin played like how did he during the second half of the season and maybe stepped up big one game? I think so, the games were close enough even with playing injured Lin and being a liability to the team.

You have to remember, Harden played like that a lot this season. People talk about Lin's inconsistency but Harden was also inconsistent, shooting 14/17 for 46 pts one night and 7/22 another. It is arguable that Harden won game 4 for us in the series. If Lin in a 6 game series could put in a 20+ point 10 ast effort, it could have won us another game.

As Morey said, Lin is the 3rd most important player for the rockets as far as winning games. If one of your top 3 players is injured, it makes a huge difference. Lin is a difference maker, that's why I agreed he was a large reason why we lost the series and can be a game changer for us advancing in the future.

The answer is obviously yes. The last regular season game with OKC, Lin had 29/9 and we won. I love Beverley, but he's not going to get you 29/9. Even if Lin just played to his season's averages, I think we would've won. His importance to the team as the floor general all season has been underrated.

I could understand that. But I don't think it's just the privilege, it's the culture and media also.

Sure, but I wouldn't say that's all this is in reality. I mean, aren't pre-feminist white women more feminine than post-feminist white women?

The question is, is that racism? If not, maybe subgroup? Relative of it? Xenophobia?

If that were the case, then the the people can also say,

"what if westbrook had not been injured?"

    I agree.

The funny thing is that the same people who try to argue that Lin is so unimportant that he had little to do with the team's great regular season are probably the same people who try to pin the Rockets' series defeat on him.

How can a player be simultaneously so ineffectual AND crucial? LOL

Yes, though they're all so interrelated that I just put them under the "privilege" umbrella.

Well, how do you define "feminine"?

If you can't stand watching a certain racial group being presented as protagonists or heroes, then that is racism, period. It's not lynch-racism or Jim Crow-racism, but it's racism nevertheless.

It's along the lines of, "I have nothing against Group X; I just don't want to work for them, or live near them..."

Yes, you obviously can say that too. With Westbrook, OKC are way too good for the Rockets.

What I was saying that if Lin wasn't injured and played to second half season averages (or one or two breakout games), we could've won that series (given that Westbrook was still injured).

I'm saying that Lin being injured from the second half of game 2, blunted the advantage we would've had with Westbrook being out from the same time.

In no way am I saying Lin = Westbrook (so don't even go there)
