My internet connection goes off and on and off and on every 10 or so minutes. Could it be my router or some settings that I need to change? When I use the wi-fi internet through my phone, it doesn't seem to have any disconnect issues.

Anyone know what the deal is? Thanks.

 What's the size of the p*rn movi--er, the document you're trying to download?

SRSLY, there's a free program you can use to continuously ping something like yahoo.com or any other well-known server... I forget the name but it's gotta be in this here list: http://www.scanwith.com/Network_Monitoring.htm .

If your connection isn't dropping with your phone, then the issue might be with your wireless card/adapter on your laptop/desktop itself. Try swapping out the wireless card/adapter with a new one and it should correct the problem if that is indeed the issue. You can get an external USB wireless adapter online for like 10 bucks or 25 bucks in retail brick and mortar stores.

might be your power strip. Is it hot? Do you smell burning wires? try plugging it up to a different outlet. However my educated guess would be that it has to be a power surge issue of some kind.

not enough information and it could be several things. Your phone is not a very good barometer to go by. If you don't have multiple computers, then hardwire it in to the router.

It could be your router. it could be software on your computer. It could be your wireless NIC on your computer. It could be your provider. It could be the modem. It could be a lot of things.
